"Staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival and later in the evening in the bar. Our room was on the first floor and was very clean and comfortable. The only negative was the very strong smell of drugs being smoked on the first floor near our room. I appreciate that this is difficult for the hotel to police, but it did spoil the stay."

"I would recommend this hotel for someone wanting a place to sleep near the city centre. We stayed here four nights while we explored and it was brilliantly located for the trains, trams and walking. The lift was out of order when we arrived and the staff took all our luggage to our room for us, after switching us to a room on the first floor. The beds were comfortable and the bar area excellent. As it's located just behind New Street Station we were in China Town and the local restaurants were...

"The room was very small, but functional. Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and linens, and quiet. Check in was almost too quick - I had a hard time catching everything she was saying. Super convenient to rail station and many restaurants. Great value for money but if you are a large person who has trouble in small places you might want to try somewhere else."

"The bed is 406 was really creeky. Also the mattress was very soft. It didn't spoil our stay but a little uncomfortable. No eggs at breakfast on Monday or decaf tea. "

"Second time staying at the Apollo. First time wasn’t so great, had a bedroom just of an open walkway, large gaps in the door where the wind blow through. This time however, I had a room within one of the blocks, the room was basic but comfortable, bed and pillows were good the room was nice and warm and the breakfast was adequate."
