We were delayed by a day because of a train strike and hotel did not charge us for the late cancellation. Room was old world Venice charm, right on a small canal in the Dorsodora area. Vaperato stop was just 2blocks away, st marks was 15 min walk. Have a small Resturant, breakfast good adequate. No complaints, we have been to Venice before & found the location to be good for everything.

The rooms at the UNA Hotel Venezia were beautifully decorated and we had a window opening directly on the canal. The breakfast buffet had a lot of variety and offered hot items in addition to the typical European breakfast items (croissants, fruit, yogurt, etc.). We also enjoyed the evening buffet which offered wine and light snacks. The hotel is located just off the Strada Nuova, so it was easy to get around on foot.
We got off our train and the hotel is right across from train station. Booked a regular room and got a mini suite, 20' x 17', pleasant surprise. Hotel staff helpful and efficient in booking tours of Uffizi and Academia. We planned to take the train to go to Siena on our own but found out that morning the trains and buses were on strike for one day. Spur of the moment changed our plans and hopped on a local "Walkabout" bus tour right across from train station and hotel. 12 hour tour visited Siena, Chianti Hills with wine tasting and lunch, San Gimignano and Pisa, good value at 90 Euro per person. Went to Santa Maria Novella Basilica near the hotel for Sunday mass for an Italian religious experience and the Archbishop of Florence was there, another good surprise. This was our first visit to Florence and spent most of our four days there hoping from museums to churches. Recommend that if you only have a few days there, select just a few museums and churches to tour and allow enough time to leisurely and aimlessly stroll along the narrow side streets and take in the charm, sit down and people watch and check out the architecture around you. Mid October is a great time to visit, less tourists and no need to buy Firenze Pass, just book through hotel staff.
We have stayed in many nice hotels in Venice but Charming House is certainly our favourite - all the comfort of the larger hotels, but much more personal and indeed 'charming'! For our 4 nights, we were given an upgrade to a 'charming' room in the DD694 annex (about a minute's walk from the main hotel). Our room (and all of the public areas of the hotel) was beautifully decorated and equipped. We had a wonderfully comfortable bed, a coffee machine that actually made decent coffee, wi-fi that was fast and reliable (yippee! said my wife), and a nice view over a canal - all-in-all the sort of room where you would feel comfortable hanging out on a cold wet day. And a luxury bathroom with great toiletries that they actually encourage you to take away!
The breakfast room back in the main hotel was also very cosy. A nice cold buffet (sweet and savoury), with hot eggs & bacon and hot drinks made to order. Space might be an issue if the hotel were full and everyone turned up to eat at the same time - but that's the price you pay if you want to maintain a boutique atmosphere...
The only minor drawback to staying in the annex is that you might need to wear your wellies to breakfast if the acqua alta (high tide) happens at the wrong time!
Good location, right next to the Peggy Guggenheim gallery, about midway between the Salute and Accademia vaporetto stops.
The staff couldn't have been friendlier. It will certainly be the first place I look to when we plan our next trip!
I have just returned from my stay at the Hotel Luna Baglioni in Venice and give this hotel the highest recommendation.
The staff are unfailingly polite, pleasant and helpful. Room service very quick and the hotel beautiful and well kept.
The breakfast was very good with a great selection of food and served in the most wonderful dining room I have ever seen, with paintings on the walls and ceiling, antique style furniture and a very efficient and attentive staff.
Special mention must go to the chambermaid/room cleaners who tidied and cleaned our room every time we left it so that each time we returned it was immaculate.
If you are visiting Venice, stay at this hotel. In my opinion it's the best.
The Palazzo Selvadego is the sister hotel to the Monaco Grand Canal in San Marco, which is only a few minutes walk away from St. Marks Square. Totally unassuming as it only bears a small plaque outside. Inside a small reception with upper levels where the bedrooms are allocated. On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to a junior suite which was excellent with wooden floors, a bathroom on-suite,a lounge area and a large wardrobe area and wooden beamed ceilings. We had booked room only so we had breakfast at the Monaco Grand Canal overlooking the lagoon and where the gondoliers were active. Beautiful setting and fully recommend this hotel as the staff were also very attentive and helpful and rooms were kept well serviced.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a very helpful and friendly receptionist who helped us take our suitcases to the annex. The room was pretty and VERY large for a hotel in Venice, (I stayed at a different hotel in April, and my room was 1/3 the size and more expensive). The #1 vaporetto is right around the corner, making it easy to get around Venice. During our stay, all of the staff greeted us with smiles, and overall we had a wonderful time.

Great hotel. Huge rooms. Very nice staff. Shuttle service to and from Marco Polo Airport is awesome. Dining on premises so it's a great way to relax the night before an early flight out of town. We took the water taxi to the airport in the evening, they picked us up and dropped us off the next morning for a 6:30 flight. Super comfy place.
