Hotel excellent. Kept immaculate and tidy. Breakfast was great. Lounge and bar area great too and staff went the extra mile to help. Added bonus of complimentary juice, water and biscuits in room. Not in the town centre which suited us fine. We took the metro 1 stop or a taxi (£5) to town. Would go back.
We used the hotel as a base whilst I underwent some tests and procedures at the Royal Victoria infirmary. The staff could not have been more helpful and all in all the quality of our stay was exceptional.
The bedrooms are understated but well-equipped. Our room was spacious and incorporated a substantial ensuite bathroom (possibly made bigger by disability provision). The hotel offers free Wi-Fi this was always up and running.
We experienced room service and dining in the restaurant and also took some bar meals. As one might expect the meals are individually prepared and in consequence the range is limited. Vegetarian options are limited but if one includes fish in the diet the choice is wider.
by far the most striking feature of the whole experience was the pleasant and personal rapport with all members of staff. Clearly someone takes great care in recruiting, training and monitoring.

I stayed here for 1 night on my way home after attending a training course. Hotel reception and public areas were bright, modern and clean as was my room. Check-in/out was quick and efficient and staff friendly.
The room I stayed in had the usual facilities: TV, Tea / coffee facilities, good Wi-Fi signal and clean modern shower room. The entire hotel appears to have been completely renovated within the last couple of years.
This was a budget hotel with a night club on the ground floor. The staff were friendly and a couple of good places to eat within walking distance. Would I stay again; if I couldn't find something more central.
The Carlton is about five minutes walk from West Jesmond metro station. The en-suite room was well furnished and very clean. The only disappointment was that the shower was rather hard to control.
The breakfast was only continents but was buffet style and the staff were more than willing to help with any problems.
Would definitely stay again and would be happy to recommend to anyone

Close to the fashionable bars, restaurants and nightlife of the trendy Jesmond area, the Carlton Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne …More
The hotel is in the middle of Jesmond with lots of pavement cafes / restaurants etc. I was worried about night time noise but the hotel was very quiet and I didn't have a disturbed nights sleep at all. The room service for breakfast was good. It always arrived at the time requested. The reception staff were really helpful. Will use this hotel again when I go back to the North East.

"Best Western New Kent Hotel gives better service than hotel twice the price"
I stayed at 2 hotels in Newcastle: the Holiday Inn Jesmond for 1 night and the BW New Kent for 2 nights. Obviously a newly refurbished hotel such as the Holiday Inn Jesmond is going to have more style and gizmos, but I would definitely go back to the Best Western whereas I am not so sure about the HI. Both provided good breakfasts, but the BW breakfast was freshly cooked. However the shower in the Holiday Inn did not work properly "because too many people were showering at the same time", whereas this hotel provided a strong flow of constant hot water. More importantly the Best Western staff were actually interested in their guests. On balance therefore this hotel offers a better option than a hotel charging over twice as much (not counting the breakfast)!
