"What a wonderful find!"
We wanted a base that was near to the sights, and we were so lucky to have found this hotel. Only 10 minutes walk from the Colosseum (maybe a bit less depending on your speed and the heat!) and with lot's of eating places nearby on Via Urbana for the evening, we don't think we could have found a better hotel for the money. We were kindly allowed to check in early by Cristiana who was utterly charming and we made our way to our room via the lift. OK, they aren't the biggest rooms, but we didn't intend to be in the room that long. Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and the bed linen was good quality. Considering breakfast is included in the price, the choice was excellent, and you can order freshly cooked scrambled eggs, and a variety of coffees if you so wish. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble, you really were made to feel very welcome. When we go back to Rome(which we will do very soon!) we won't even look elsewhere for a hotel, we will book the Hotel Ivanhoe without hesitation.

"Great hotel, short walking distance to Colosseum"
I stay in a lot of hotels mainly for business trips so it was nice to relax for a change with my wife. This hotel was well staffed and clean and for our short break served the purpose well. The bedroom was very clean and breakfast was a selection of continental. We were on the 5th floor so had a view over the roof tops. The hotel roof bar gave a good view out towards St Paul's Cathedral in the VC and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier but was not a full 360 degree view, probably 290 degrees. Room included a nice large walk in shower with yes nice hot pressurized water, no bath though, bathroom had shampoo and clean white towels, wall safe with key. The room was serviced daily. 3 euro wall sockets. Electric shutters and curtains to window. TV with mainly Italian channels but also BBC World news. We were very please with the overall standards of this hotel and would recommend. There is a lot to see in Rome if you like Roman history and architecture but do not forget to take a camera as you will struggle to remember all the sights you come across. Top of the dome at St Paul's has to be a MUST DO but be prepared for a physical walk up. Restaurants are plentiful and if you visit some back streets you will come across some great little places to eat and at very reasonable prices like La Vacca M'Briaca Hosteria which is a couple of streets away from the hotel 5 mins to walk. Italians don't serve Spaghetti with meatballs so I ordered a plate of each and combined the two. Bellissimo.

"Great hotel find!"
Our stay at Hotel Duca D'Alba was far the best hotel of our trip through Italy. The loaction is amazing and super close to the Colloseum!!! The staff was extremely knowledgable and friendly, and the room was beautifully decorated and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and there were several choices. Air condition was running even in November (which is a luxury in Italy). Wifi was easy to log on and worked well our entire stay. They offer a shuttle to the airport for around 14£ a person. They made it very easy to schedule.

    Pocket Guide: Rome Colosseum Hotels

The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.
