"What an absolute find, a true revelation. Okay, Newport itself may not be the most salubrious of towns, but the Mercure Hotel is in a league of its own. The hotel is situated right in the town centre, very close to the Friars Walk Shopping Centre and it’s undercover 24 hour car park. We parked there for 2 nights, a 5 minute walk to the hotel, and only cost just over £15. The hotel itself, looks a relatively new building from the exterior, it was in fact built in 1966.
