“Good value and convenient for the Shops and Cardiff Bay eating”
Certainly convenient, on a windy wet weekend in the winter, with Christmas Shopping on the agenda, a short walk to the shopping centre was welcome. Staff were very obliging, providing us with maps and advise on places to eat around Cardiff Bay. Room was clean and comfy, although I did request twin beds, they offered a Queen and a put - you- up. My daughter took the put you up, but moved into the Queen with me as she said it was very uncomfortable. Otherwise, bathroom lovely and all we wanted. One Tip - car parking at the hotel £8 a night, if you time it right, i.e. late afternoon early evening, there is street parking nearby where you can leave the car without charge.
“Reasonable choice for shopping/bay”
Having lived in Cardiff for a number of years previously, I have learnt which hotels are the most conveniently located for shopping or a meal on the Bay. Novotel would not have been my first choice, but I was reasonably surprised at how short a walk it is to the Bay from here. It took around 10-15 mins for us to walk back from the Bay to the Hotel. The taxi fare was around £5 to the Bay on the way in. I have to say that I wasn't convinced of its proximity to the City Centre (we drove there instead) but there must be some kind of shortcut that I'm not aware of as Trip Advisor customers have said it only takes 10 mins or so. The hotel charge a rather cheeky £8 to park in their car park but there are lots of parking opportunities on Schooner Way in front of apartments etc, and they are only 2 mins round the corner. The room itself was reasonable and comfortable. However, there were several things that I would have expected from a 4* hotel that weren't present. For instance, the towel heater in the ensuite had a sign over it saying "disconnected for safety reasons", which is a little bizarre. There was no shower cap, or body lotion provided. We only had 2 square pillows on the bed (that don't span the width of a double bed) and only 1 spare standard pillow in the wardrobe. The hotel did provide another one on request though. Also, the breakfast was to be charged at £10/head - far too pricey. Take a walk to the bay and have breakfast in one of the coffee places there.
“Good choice for city centre and bay area”
Very good hotel, we were really happy with the facilities offered for the price paid. It was built in an old renovated warehouse building, and so had original features, but was equally modern and minimalistic. There is a good swimming pool, which seemed very popular. The room was comfortable, as you would expect, and included tea & coffee making facilities. Parking fees compared well with charges at other hotels we have used in Cardiff, and we felt that our car was safe there. Pre ordering our breakfast meant that we saved money. Walking into the city centre takes around 10 minutes, whilst the bay is a somewhat longer walk in another direction. All in all a good choice, and we will return.
“ideal location for the Millenuim Staduim”
Fantastic location to see Cardiff and go to the Millenuim Staduim
“Cardiff for Elton”
This hotel was perfect for our needs; close enough to both the centre of Cardiff and also the bay.area. Car Parking at the hotel is £8 per night which is expensive when you can park on some of the close by streets.
“more than satisfied”
A really good deal.Elegant surroundings and original features. No hegatives in fact.
“Novotel Cardiff”
We stayed there over the April long weekend for a city break and i have to stay the overall experience was very good, i think the check-in receptionist could have been a little bit more friendly, it felt like standing in the post office queue but it did not bother me muc, the room felt like it was closed for a long time so we had to freshen it up, i think the TV channels could have been a little better and parking is not cheap. On the positive hand the breakfast is excellent and the staff were very friendly, the location is great (the sightseeing bus passes right by it), the room was very comfortable and good value for money, The SPA facilities are first class, there is free internet in the lobby if you want to check a map or something. We ordered room service on the first night and the food was very good. i am sure i will be back whenever i am in Cardiff
“Very good”
Lovely hotel with good leisure facilities and breakfast. Will go back if it is within budget!
“Very expensive and disappointing”
This hotel room was very expensive. The only staff I came across were off-hand and unhelpful. The room was small. To describe it as in Cardiff Centre is misleading, it is neither in the shopping centre nor close to the station.
“Good and comfortable hotel”
Everything was fine since I arrived till I left. Nice welcome, kind staff, big, clean and comfortable room, excellent service. Just one little thing to point out, it would be nice to know in advance that there is charge for parking. But overall I was very satisfied with my stay in this hotel and would call in again if I need.
