"Ideal hotel for exploring major sights in Madrid"
Arrived by taxi booked through expedia and had a very relaxing stay in Madrid. This hotel is perfectly located to all the main sights in Madrid with a stunning view from the roof terrace of the Royal Place. Close to theatres and many shops and parks . A very stylish boutique hotel and room was immaculate with very large bathroom. Hotel breakfast was extensive with everything you could want on offer. Staff at reception were very helpful, providing all the information that was needed. I would definately stay here again if in Madrid.

"Excellent base for exploring Madrid"
Whilst simplistic this hotel is excellent value for money and served as an excellent base for our short stay in Madrid. Within a couple of minutes walk to the main hotspots and a metro station on the doorstop i would definately recommend staying.

"Good location hotel a little dated"
This is a lovely hotel, it is a little dated but was perfect for what we wanted and the location was a short distance from the metro so easy to get around although there are two streets with similar names but we only made a mistake once!

"Excellent city centre hotel with brill staff."
This is the second time I have stayed at Hotel Santo Domingo - it is no longer Mercure but Be Live now but I did not notice a difference at all. The staff I dealt with all spoke Spanish and English and they were all polite, helpful and efficient in their jobs. The room was kept clean and tidy by the cleaning staff and I had no issues at all. I love that all of the rooms are decorated differently and all to an interesting theme. There are two parts to the hotel and we were in the older part - although there could be some general improvements made to improve the condition or the rooms, these did not impact on my holiday at all - just little niggles. In a city like Madrid, the hotel is the place you should be spending the least amount of time! There is a rooftop bar and pool as well as a restaurant within the hotel - I cannot comment on these as I did not use them. Overall, I am definitely pleased with my visit to Santo Domingo and I will definitely be back in the very near future. Thank you :-)

"Hidden Gem in the Gran Vía avenue"
We stayed for more than one week. Location: Excellent. Entrance: no bellboy to help and no platform for rolling luggage (you must lift it up by your own) Reception desk: some times interns are in charge and not well versed in hospitality details (mile nails). Most reception staff is well trained about the city attractions and are very pleasant (they also make concierge tasks per your request). Elevators: Only two for the whole building and for a four guests with one luggage. Decorations: The thematic experience with poems and words everywhere added a unique feature. The colors of the walls and the hallways red carpet were inviting. Original architecture details are in place (some corridors doors from olde Madrid can still be seen as well as the old elevator). Bedroom: good location in a corner with wide windows and a wide balcony (the room was not one of those with a terrace). Bathroom was also big and well separated from the room includes tub, shower room and washing room with modern elements. Includes rolling sofa and feet rest bench. Closet is relatively small (only for one luggage) Bed and linens: huge bed, white linens of 400, good towels of all sizes, some days perfectly white, other days, old worn white. Views: was toward the side off the Gran Via (more quiet although interesting). Breakfast: continental and varied (what would be needed for a walk during the whole morning). Restaurant and lounge: +A1, René and Fabio very, professional, friendly and accommodating.

    Pocket Guide: Madrid

With a fantastic range of superb deals available all year round, hotels in Madrid have the expertise to cater for every budget. Madrid hotels cater for penny pinchers and millionaires alike. Make life easy and book into one of the trendy 4-star hotels or exclusive 5-star hotels right in the heart of the city. Whether you’re looking for a weekend city break or a week-long family holiday, Madrid has got it covered.

Families visiting Madrid will be spoilt for choice with the amount of child-friendly attractions. Located in the Casa de Campo Park, Madrid Zoo Aquarium is not to be missed. See the giant pandas, catch the bird of prey show or get your photograph taken with the dolphins. Little kids will especially love feeding the giraffes. Older kids driving you mad? Bribe them into good behaviour by promising a trip to Madrid’s best theme park – Parque Warner. With a host of attractions, rides and rollercoasters for all the family, it is easy to spend an entire day here. Thrill seekers will love the Superman Coaster while the little ones will adore the water rides in Toon Village.

Wander around the majestic Sabatini Gardens before heading inside to view the incredibly opulent private apartments of Charles III. Containing a wealth of art including masterpieces from Caravaggio, Velázquez and Goya, the palace is a joy to wander around. Of particular interest is the Royal Armoury which contains a superb collection of original tournament armour from Emperor Charles V.

While in this part of town, it would be a shame not to visit the atmospheric Almudena Cathedral, just across the courtyard. An eclectic mix of architectural styles, the cathedral also houses a museum full of sacred relics. Make your way to the viewing platform on the roof for some of the most panoramic views of the city – definitely worth the climb!
