“Not one to be missed”
We were visiting for a family engagement event and the room that we booked (I think it was the Kuku Club) on site was just great. I was very impresssed with all aspects of this hotel, from the lobby area with the log fire effect to the bedroom which was just impeccable in terms of cleanliness, comfort and space, I had my son, daughter-in law and two grandchildren aged 4 and 2 staying also in a family room and they reported a very comfortable night with excellent service from the hotel staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the vast choice of breakfast items and the comfortableness of it all I would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone. The only minor issue is the car park not being on site and opposite the hotel.
“Will definitely be going back again !”
This hotel is second to none. Staff always friendsly and have time for a chat, cleanliness is first class and the food wonderful. Only gripe is that the matresses are a little on the soft side for me and therefore did not have the greatest sleep. Love the hotel, its staff and the pool is great.
“Lots of positives....only 2 negatives!”
Me and my husband stayed at Park Plaza for 2 nights in Nov 2011. Check-in was easy and the staff were friendly. Our room was lovely; comfortable bed, hot drink facilities and mini bar as well as clean, good-sized bathroom with complimentary toiletries, shower and bath. Daily maid service. The leisure facilities are lovely; good sized pool, whirlpool and steam room (no sauna). Not overcrowded and towels are provided. The hotel is centrally located; close to shops and bars. It is, however opposite at least 1 night club, a comedy club and about 3 bars. As a result there is a lot of noise....very large gathering of students/ young adults etc. The only other negative is the cost of the breakfast....£13 per adult per day in today's economy! As the hotel is close to plenty of coffee shops etc we chose to eat breakfast and our other meals elsewhere.
“Would go there again”
Hotel was conveniently located. Decor inside the hotel was very good. Staff on front desk and in bar were very helpful. Room was very nice but mattress on bed could have done with being replaced. It dipped in the middle and was noisy every time you moved. The mattress on the other twin bed was ok.
“Lovely visit, excellent location!”
The hotel is wonderful...very clean and modern. Excellent location, handy to everything you would want to see and do in Cardiff. The food in the restaurant is very tasty and the staff very pleasant. The only downside was the age of the bed. The mattress was very old and sloped...made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. By the end of the third night we were ready for a new bed!! The breakfast was good, but make sure you are there early as the bacon and the eggs get a little stale as the morning progresses. The bar is a treat, and the staff are wonderful. All in all, I would stay again - provided the bed was in better shape. The shower is heavenly - lots of room and excellent pressure..... We were mostly very happy with our choice of hotel and had a wonderful time in Cardiff.
“Good choice”
A well appointed smart hotel in central location and walking distance to most attractions. Nice breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. Will certainly stay here again.
“Earns its stars”
Picked the hotel for its location near dining/pubs (and shopping if you care), several places we wanted to visit (Cardiff Castle just 2 blocks away), and train station (Queen Street). All easy walking distance. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Wine and chocolates in our room the 1st night was a nice touch. Ate at the restaurant. Breakfast was buffet with good variety of offerings, a little pricey. Dinner was definitely worth the price - fresh pasta, creamy risotto, and good mixture of local flavors. Would definitely stay there again.
“Great hotel, rough area”
I really cannot fault the hotel, which is modern, clean and in good repair. Our room was a good size and the fixtures, fittings and furniture are contemporary. My only downside is the location of the hotel. Convenient for the shopping centre during the day, the hotel is opposite several bars and clubs and after 10pm the area gets very rowdy. Our Saturday night walk back to the hotel involved doubling back to avoid a fight, walking past a girl passed out on the pavement outside the hotel, closely followed by a guy very much worse for wear before we got into the hotel at about midnight. The atmosphere escalated at 1am and it took 5 police vans and pepper spray to stop the fighting outside the hotel. Our room did not face onto the street and so we were not disturbed, but it is a shame that you have to take your life in your hands to get back to the hotel after dark.
“pleasant hotel, great convenient location”
This hotel was located in an ideal place, 2 mins walkign distacne from City Hall where i was working, and also very close to the castle and main shopping high street. We even walked to Cardiff Bay in 30 mins. I owuld reccomend this hotel in future, its clean and pleasant, with a NCP carpark literally across the road.
“Excellent experience! Highly recommended.”
The hotel was a short walking distance from the train station and very close to Cardiff Castle. The lobby was beautiful (lots of seating options and fireplaces) and the rooms were fantastic. The hotel felt special, not like a cookie-cutter chain hotel. My husband and I loved our stay.
