(399 reviews) This was a great stay. The location is great, it's about a 10 min walk to the marina/quay and downtown but we mostly used ride shares instead. The buffet breakfast was great because we did a lot of early morning tours and it made it extra convenient for us to not have to leave to go grab breakfast. The staff area great, very helpful. The rooftop view from the top floor was the cherry on top that made this trip to Madiera excellent. The only con was that the room was not cleaned the best way possible, despite us asking. We thought the cleanliness could have been better but honestly we did not care much as we wanted to go out and about and needed it to rest. Also we felt cheated because we asked for tap water at dinner and got charged for it! The head waiter takes the order for drinks and we felt it was his duty to inform customers that they charge even for tap water! It is ironical that they give free prosecco and at breakfast, but charge for water at dinner!! Customers can make an informed decision about ordering water if the hotel can make them aware of their charges. Overall, the staff are hard working and try very hard to do their best. Not a bad place to stay but be prepared to pay for your water at dinner! Nobody does this anymore, most hotels just scan your card Tv most channels don’t work Reception is not open as per the hours shown and they close for lunch Texted asking if we could leave the bags, was told yes, and when we got there they were closed for lunch break. Never heard of a hotel closing for lunch! They could have mentioned that !!!! So last day was a bit of a waste of time because couldn’t trust them to leave the bags and reception being open.
