Allegedly, one of the largest Rose gardens in the world; I it must cost a fortune to upkeep in terms of manual labour.
The gardens are spectacular, the swimming pools clean and the staff very obliging, the only thing we didn't like was having to walk 150 m on a public road to get to the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast, which was under invested and lacklustre
Young Rodrigo behind the bar at reception would be a serious asset to any business.

We have just had a 3 night stay at the Hotel and it was lovely. When we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and gave us a brief tour, when our room was ready we were again escorted there by a member of reception. The room was a great size with a small patio area overlooking the lush gardens. We had dinner in the restauarant on our first night, which was excellent, service was impeccable. We used the bar a couple of times, loving the idea that we got to choose our "Happy Hour", we also ate in the Bar on 2 occasions and again the food was excellent. Breakfast was very good with a great slection of food.The Hotel is very traditional and has a lot of character, we will hopefully return one day and would recommend to anyone who would like to be within 15 mins of the centre of Funchal but still stay in a "little oasis".
