Pocket Guide: Shanghai

Shanghai is the largest city in China and one of the largest metropolises in the world. It’s a town that perfectly melds traditional China with the modern and ample shopping malls. Here you can photograph both China's biggest Buddha statue and the Oriental Pearl Tower (468 meters high), visit the Shanghai Museum and end the day exploring the top nightlife of Xintiandi.

Hotels in Changning

Changning is Old town Shanghai and oozes history. It’s here that you can visit the Jing'an Temple, the largest Buddha statue in China. There’s also plenty of colonial architecture from Shanghai’s time as an international settlement for global trade, but the true ancient Chinese culture is virtually impossible to miss.

Most hotels in Changning are either three or four star, but there are also a handful of two star hotels that are perfect for budget travellers.

Hotels in Huangpu

Huangpu is a tourist destination par excellence. Within walking distance of the approximately 70 hotels you’ll find the beautiful banks of the famous River Bund, the renowned Nanjing Road shopping street and the Shanghai Museum.

The hotels range from two to five star accommodation, covering everything from business to romantic hotels. Some even come with a full spa including sauna, Turkish bath and massage facilities among the options.

Hotels in Luwan

Luwan is famous for its beautiful parks and fine dining. Eat in top Eastern and Western style restaurants on Julu Road, where you’ll also find Shanghai’s street markets. This is also where you’ll find all the best nightlife, mainly in the elegant Xintiandi entertainment district.

Luwan has 30 properties with plenty of hotels near shopping centres, as well as a few that cater specially to business travellers. Most hotels around here include a breakfast and WiFi.
