We went to visit Shanghai for 5 days and it was amazing! We travel to Wu zhen village for a day and enjoy it very much and also we did a few tours around the city and a river cruse with the Big Bus very interesting. On the 1st Jan we were in the city around the Bund and shopping streets and the massive crowds of people was a different experience never have in our life. Most of the dining we did it at the hotel which we enjoy very much. The weather was cold but pleasant outside but inside the hotel was too hot specially in the room with the air conditioner hard to regulate to the right temperature for us.
This hotel is very affordable for a 5 star hotel. Staff speak English and very helpful. We only eat breakfast there but lunch & dinner at the surrounding restaurants approx 2 -5mins walk from the lobby. (Across road ). Free Wifi Internet but Facebook and all Google services are restricted. I VPN out while I was there to post on Facebook, they got on and blocked by VPN connection as well. Lol. Taxi available outside the lobby. Love the hotel and stuff. Thank you for a great experience from my wife and I.
Excellent staff service all through the hotel: at both check in and out, the restaurant, the spa, and even when I requested an extended check out on last day (paid additional, which was fine with me). Room was clean, roomy, and newish. Right across the street from the new expo center. right above line 2 on the subway so very convenient transportation.

Upon arrival staff and concierge services were friendly and welcoming. This positive attitude was present throughout the stay and especially in the Italian Restaurant (Camelia) and in the executive Lounge. Kudos to the chef, Nicola, who prepared excellent meals to make me feel right at home with his eggplant parmigiana and pasta dishes - I was quite amazed at the tastes of the sauces and level of attention each dish received. The pasta was cooked as requested - AL DENTE! The staff in the restaurant was excellent in terms of service but also paying attention to all details. For example, they provided me with reading materials while I was waiting for my meal, repeatedly checked to ensure that the meal was made to my satisfaction and to simply ensure that everything was ok! The positive and welcoming atmosphere was felt also each time I entered the Executive lounge as the staff called me by my name each time I arrived!
I did not experience any difficulty communicating in English with the Chinese staff and certainly I appreciated speaking Italian with Nicola!
Overall an excellent experience and would definitely stay at the hotel again!

When you unload your luggage, the employees at the entrance do not help you. When you enter the hotel,you will get the light kitchen smell. Before l left shanghai , I found out this hotel did not have my last five nights reservation. During that week , I could not send G-Mail to Expedia, so I call this hotel for help every day，gave them all the information I had. I am so sorry they did not do anything to help.
