"Amazing view but otherwise left much to be desired. There are about 20 steep steps with narrow treads down to the apartment. Carrying luggage up and down was very challenging particularly as Torquay is not the kind of resort that attracts younger guests. "We have stayed at Astor house before so we came back to the same apartment. They had upgraded the sofas to recliners which was a nice surprise. The apartment itself is easy to get to clean and Torquay town centre is a short walk away. It has a great view over the beach side of Torquay and the area is quiet. "This is a very good hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. Plus points are location and the fantastic views across the bay. The rooms where large and very clean and comfortable. The restaurant food and service was excellent and the interior has an air of grandeur without being over the top. The main downsides are the exterior appearance, which is tired and needing some TLC. The pool was closed - I think this is a long term issue Balconies from our rooms were not open due to maintenance/safety issues although we were told this when we booked. Don't let this put you off, it is a great place to stay."

"This hotel was easily accessible and the car park is a good size. It's in a great location for the city centre, which is a few minutes walk away. The room was nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I struggle to sleep in new places, but I had no issues here. All of the staff were lovely and helpful and happy to answer any queries. We sat in the bar area in the evening for a drink and it was cosy feeling, relaxing and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and I wish I could have tried more of the food, but I was full. Would definitely stay here again, and try to make use of the gym and pool next time."

"Hotel: Easy check-in. Spacious, well appointed room. Comfortable. No dressing table with well lit mirror, which sadly seems a common theme with modern hotels. The View Restaurant: Welcoming, friendly knowledgable and attentive service without being intrusive, spacious with fantastic views, reasonable prices for very well presented and tasty meals. Unusual that the accessible room allocated was on the 7th floor (therefore up a lift or several flights of stairs), at the very end of the corridor, then off the side wing of that beyond a fob controlled door into a short corridor."
