Nice enough hotel. However be warned that the rooms are located spread out over a hillside. There were 163 steps to climb to our room. Not the easiest with suitcases. I would not recommend this property to elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. Also, no door on the bathroom is kinda gross.

The beach view, location and staff are excellent. We did run out of hot water when showering and the water is warm vs hot. Out of the hotels control is the very loud music from the bar on the Sayulita beach from 5 pm till 3 am, including Sunday. Unfortunately it ruins your enjoyment of the evening. I recommend staying in a location that doesn’t have a view of Sayulita Beach or out of town, to enjoy an evening and night free of loud techno pop repeating beat 5pm-3am. How one bar can impact millions of dollars in revenue for property owners and real estate values is strange. The music from other places in town is at a reasonable volume.

It was raining when we first got there and the roof was leaking in La Costa so the floor was wet. Also the hot water was hit or miss. The room was beautiful and the view was amazing being right on the ocean. The pool and yoga area was very nice. The staff was very receptive and friendly and spoke English which was very helpful.

This property did have beautiful gardens and grounds, and the room was very private and bed very comfortable. However, I felt pics were misleading, as there are no common areas available with any ocean views, all pics are from specific rooms only. We were at the top of many stairs and service was very limited. Only a push button lock on the door, not secure at all and difficult to lock our own door from the outside. This property was hard to get to, especially with a car.

Not secure enough for us
This is a difficult review to leave, but I can’t in good faith recommend this hotel to female travelers, or other more vulnerable guests, due to safety concerns. The grounds are gorgeous, the reception staff was wonderfully friendly, the views are out of this world. That being said, after checking in, we were approached by another party, advising us they’d had their money and passport stolen the night before, from their locked room. Thankfully they alerted us to this, and we ramped up our diligence, which may have saved us the same fate. We were prepared for noise from town (of which there was no shortage, until dawn) we were prepared for the possibility of being visited by the local wildlife (didn’t expect what sounded like several coati bound and determined to gain access into my room underneath the thatched roof directly above my head) but were not prepared for the ease of access to our villa from the secluded staircase mere feet from one of the bedrooms, which lacks window coverings. The doors require a code to enter, and the codes are apparently known to people with ill intentions, as we realized one of the bedrooms had been entered while we were at breakfast just before checking out. Unfortunately, the tip left for housekeeping was stolen, but considering the fact that they could have just as easily entered in the middle of the night, we felt we dodged a bullet. We enjoy Sayulita but will look elsewhere for accommodations next time.

Disappointed!! The establishment was not worth the cost nor the hype. We stayed in La Costa room: it was not very clean, the furniture was dated and dirty. You could only enjoy your view to the ocean by standing at the kitchenette counter, because you couldn’t draw the curtains open. No point in paying more for ocean views. ☹️ The worst part were the centipedes crawling on the walls and on the floors. You couldn’t go barefoot for fear of stepping on one and getting bit. There were no phones. When I requested for a hair dryer, 2 hours passed by and nothing: my husband had to go downstairs and ask for it, again. The room was not at all comfortable!! Overall, it was a huge disappointment!! We checked out a night earlier and no questions asked. Big surprise! Check out all your options!

Although the grounds of this property are visually quite beautiful, there were so many things that were not great.I am not sure the word Luxury should be used to describe this hotel at all. possibly Eco Luxury? Many of the villas are open air with nets around the beds. We had medium size crabs in our room daily along with so many worms, gekos and a Mexican raccoon that kept getting in at night even though we didn’t not have any food out. We also did not have hot water at all. It was luke warm at best. Our room was not cleaned when we requested two days in a row. The absolute biggest concern was we did not sleep at all the whole time we were there due to the insanely loud rave music coming from the beach that went 24 hours a day. It was so loud even really good earplugs couldn’t touch it. There were a few people we saw that ended up leaving the hotel because of it. I wish we would have read more reviews because many speak of this noise. I guess this is probably why the hotel enforces a no refund policy as soon as you book no matter the timeline as I am sure they would get many cancellations after really ready through reviews. I think the larger, higher priced rooms may have a better overall experience, however absolutely no one can escape the noise. It’s absolutely terrible. The unfortunate part is the noise is completely out of the hotels control yet really shines a negative light on the whole experience. We would not stay here again. We would stay quieterNorth sayulita

We stayed in Besame Mucho room, it was great! It is pretty open, so some bugs were in the room but theres a mosquito net around the bed and it wasn’t anything crazy. Very easy walk to town/shops. Staff were excellent. Beautiful plants everywhere, clean warm pool, convenient attached restaurant if you’re feeling lazy (though it is a bit expensive compared to other places around town). I would come back for sure! We spent a week there with no issues or complaints.

Good: Front desk staff was very friendly. Affordable room. The views from the lobby are excellent. Easy access to the beach. Pool and spa are a must. Heads Up: Our room was the worst room on the property. It required us to walk up several steep stairs. I counted a total of 230 steps. Some stair cases had no railing,; very dangerous. The hotel staff other than the front desk staff were not friendly and not helpful. Visibly, it looked like they were miserable. There was no TV in the room. It looked as though once upon a time there was one mounted but it fell. The walls were cracked including the ceiling. Any spa services have to be paid for in cash and there is no ATM nearby. The house restaurant Si Señor is a joke. Extremely pricey food. Views , however are incredible. The prices changed daily depending upon who ordered. I honestly felt taken advantage of. Overall, I will not stay here again unless I'm staying in one of the large villas that don't require tons of stairs.

I like the view friendly people. I don’t like the unsafe room design. Before my reservation I checked reviews about this specific villa, steps, noise, and mosquitoes. Yes, We got bitten by mosquitoes. Yes, it is hard to be climbing 80 steps to get into your room. Yes it’s really noisy, and at some points it does get annoying. There is not enough space or privacy for a couple. Privacy from outside isn’t very good even for toilet use. The space inside is really small and the appliances in the room are literally in the restroom. My biggest concern was safety. This room design felt really unsafe because we had to leave the property into a roadside to get into the villa and a wood gate door was the only thing between the bed and cars parking outside the room we can see the cars lighting when arriving or leaving smashing door all night . Sometimes people were driving very erratically after partying. Be aware of scorpions. Really disappointed. Thank You ML

Villa Amor was absolutely gorgeous! Really made you feel like you were in your own paradise in the jungle. Very accessible to both Sayulita main beach and the beautiful Playa de Los Muertos. Short walk to Centro where all the shops/restaurants/bars are. Lots of amenities including a beautiful pool, complimentary yoga (although I didn’t wake up early enough to take advantage), gym, and most importantly for us complimentary surf and paddle board rentals. Very responsive and helpful staff, especially Cecilia the concierge who kindly greeted us with a smiling face each morning. The only thing to note is there are no elevators and some rooms require climbing LOTS of steps. My partner and I certainly didn’t mind as it was my workout for the day but could be a shock for some. Thank you for having us and we would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in the Villa de Amor room. Absolutely beautiful views and unique stay. You feel like you are sleeping in a treehouse. Only downside is in order to get to your room there are several steep flights of stairs to climb. Although it’s a workout, it’s worth the stay.

Staff, location, and amenities were wonderful. Very accommodating and offered good advice for touring around the area. It is worth noting there are a phenomenal amount of stairs or a cobble stone path that leads to the various rooms. No elevator, no shuttle service. Upon check-in they request you sign a waiver for said stairs. Stairs are uneven, slippery, and no hand rails available. If you are not able-bodied this place would be a nightmare. We managed fine, but the thought of our parents having to navigate this is terrifying. It should be disclosed at time of booking that the property is not accessible for everyone.

The staff were really nice. We booked one of the Villa rooms on the top of the property and it was not good. Really loud, paper thin walls, couldn’t get much sleep there so the staff moved us to a beautiful room near the pool, which was so nice of them! Really appreciated that and would definitely stay here again knowing how accommodating they were. The pool & yoga area are really nice and private, away from the hustle & bustle of the town. The gym is nice too. The property is a little out of town but not too far so it’s quiet but a short walk to restaurants & shops. We did not eat or drink at the restaurant si senor or get room service because it was way too overpriced. We would have loved to get room service and drinks by the pool but it wasn’t worth the price (~$15 US dollar drinks). Would stay here again, just not in the villas on the top of the property.

Don’t go on a Friday!
The hotel is a dream but DO NOT STAY OVER ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. There is the loudest (and worst) techno music I have ever heard blaring from around 8pm to 3am. We’re not a fussy bunch but, this was next level. No chance of sleeping through it even with ear plugs. We were told it came from Cocos nightclub and there is nothing to be done. Otherwise, a stunning place.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Amor boutique hotel is a little hidden oasis. We felt like we were all alone in the jungle in our romantic hideaway. Yes, the road to the villa was steep and cobblestoned, but it made for a very authentic experience, and we were prepared. Can't wait to go back.
