Hotel had everything you would expect. Very happy with our stay as a whole. Food at the Italian restaurant was exceptional and I was surprised to find out it was included in the all inclusive package. Also the entertainment staff went above and beyond.
The place is in reasonable condition and in a relatively quiet part of Puerto De Santiago. I wouldn't say that it was a venue for an all inclusive stay ( as many of the people we met did do ) but overall the hotel was pleasing and the staff were very nice, and it made a good base for exploring the rest of the island.
If you had an issue, as we did regarding bedding and towels etc the problem was solved quickly. Even when my 15 year old broke our travel adaptor off in the wall socket, leaving as exposed pin ( which he then tried to remove with his hands while the power was on an gave himself a shock! ) this was dealt with straight away.
Food, drink etc was very reasonable in the hotel as it was in the rest of the resort, and I would have no hesitation in going back to Santiago.
Only down side was that the last 3 days of our stay saw the usually spotless swimming pool out of action as the contractors sand blasting the tiles surrounding the pool used no pool protection an managed to fill the pool with sludge! I would imagine it will be a week before the pool is clean enough to be used which has not pleased the people coming to stay this week.
To summarise, Hotel standard good, Staff all friendly and helpful, the hotel is gradually being refurbished and if you are looking for a non expensive base in which to explore this beautiful island, I would recommend.

I was staying at the hotel to celebrate my Daughters wedding who was getting married there. Very large hotel but still plenty of space to get away from people. My room was on the ground floor overlooking the pool with a sea view and it was dated but ok. The shower upstairs leaked into my bathroom and there was a black mould stain on the ceiling because of it. Shower good and only one cockroach incident. Expected in these hot places I guess. Very clean and food ok. We upgraded to all inclusive and it paid for itself with the food and drink. Pool lovely and plenty of loungers any time of the day.
This is the third time we have stayed at the apartments. It is in a good location and our room had a partial sea view. The staff are very friendly and helpful and our room was cleaned regularly. We were self catering so did not use all of the facilities at the Vigilia Park
Booked for a week. Hotel reception manned 24/7 by friendly and helpful staff. Rooms very spacious and for the first time ever a comfortable double Bed! We were in room 423 so although we had quite a walk to get to room were not disappointed - corner balcony which has sea view and overlooked the pool. Breakfast really good choice but although "English sausage" they were cheap ones so tasted like it. Had dinner a couple of nights and was pleasantly surprised as didn't go until late at the choice still available - although they did seem to like pork steaks cooked in a variety of ways. Room cleaned every day by very pleasant maids. Only thing to fault was that although their was fridge in room would have been nice to have had tea/coffee making facilities as you were asked not to take drinks/food out of restaurant and I have a partner who doesn't do breakfast but loves a cup of coffee in the morning and I like a cuppa in the afternoon sometimes.
We have just returned from this hotel and have to say it really was a lovely place to stay. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect, it is a small hotel but it has everything you need to make for a relaxing holiday. The swimming pool is not heated and it was a bit cold for February. The food was excellent, there was plenty of choice every day and it all looked fresh and appetising.

Reception were helpful and reactive both on arrival and through the stay. The apartment was spacious, clean and very well appointed and arrival gift of water (in fridge) and bottle of wine was very welcome.
The servicing of the apartment (daily for rubbish and three daily for cleaning) was efficient and friendly.
If we returned to the resort we would have no qualms about staying here again.
The towns of Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago, and Playa de la Arena are on the west coast of the island of Tenerife, just south of the famous Los Gigantes cliffs. The three are adjacent to one another, with Puerto Santiago in the middle. Of the towns, Puerto de Santiago has more local Canarian residents and traditional Canarian restaurants. Playa de la Arena boasts a gently sloping, black-sand beach.
