We (2 couples) stayed in Ty'n Rhos Country House for the Easter weekend and decided to also stay for dinner 2 out of 3 nights. We were amazed by the comfort, service, and quality. The location was great, an easy drive to the nearby castles, Snowdon railway, and other historical sites. We took the train from London to Bangor and hired a car there. Hotel staff went over and above to cater for all our needs (e.g. finding car rental, food allergies). Even though we weren't lucky with the weather...

Great base for walking the Llanberis path up Snowden. The hosts were extremely welcoming, warm, and knowledgable about the local area. A selection of teas and coffee are available in the lounge area which felt much needed after the climb! Room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely recommend :)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious athough it was located at the back of the Inn across a beer barrel storage area. The Welsh Breakfast was excellent. The car park was very convenient, as was the situation of the Black Boy.

The hotel is a sizeable place, nicely decorated and the grounds are well maintained.
Website pictures of the rooms are generous... but no complaints.
Everywhere clean and tidy, room was comfortable (albeit a wee bit smaller than expected), parking was safe & easy and breakfast delicious.
Location is excellent. Beautiful part of the world.
The £97 for a nights stay with breakfast inc was good value, and we would definitely stay again.

Booked this last minute and were so happy we did. Location is magnificent and with views to die for. We stayed in the cottage which was just perfect for us. Had a fully equipped kitchen that we did not use as we were only for only one night but perfect for anyone staying longer and with small children We chose to eat dinner in the restaurant and are real foodies and love fine dining. Little disappointed with the overall experience. Food prep and quality could be stepped up a notch. ...

My husband booked 3 nights here as a birthday treat - and it exceeded my expectations. Both our bedroom and the public spaces were lovely, the food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back!!

Lovely hotel. Our room was in The Town House. It was large and had everything you need. Comfy bed, lots of sockets, big bathroom with good shower. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Friendly staff. No parking at the hotel but that wasn’t a problem as there is a big car park a short walk away which only cost £6 for 24hours. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Bulkeley. Overall the hotel was clean, charming and very well located. Our sea view room with a four poster bed was really tastefully decorated, with period features and a modern bathroom. The views out the window were also beautiful when the sun shone! Staff were lovely and the breakfast and coffee served with it was very tasty. I would definitely recommend staying!

Wonderful stay! Accommodation was very clean, well equipped and lovely and warm after a day walking in the rain! Food was great and staff very attentive. Wonderful views, very peaceful and the cabana was a bit different which the kids loved especially going up the ladder to bed.

The best area to stay in Penisarwaun is within the village itself for direct access to local amenities and a peaceful base for exploring Snowdonia.
Penisarwaun is a small, quiet village located in the heart of Snowdonia, offering a genuine Welsh experience. It's characterised by traditional stone cottages and stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Snowdon. The main road through the village, the B4409, connects it to larger towns like Llanberis and Caernarfon. You'll find a local shop and a pub, The Glyntwrog Inn, which serves as a community hub.
Couples looking for a romantic escape will appreciate the tranquillity and natural beauty of Penisarwaun. It provides an excellent base for scenic walks and hikes directly from your doorstep, with routes leading into the national park. The village's quiet evenings are superb for relaxing after a day of exploring.
For families, Penisarwaun offers a central and convenient location for accessing various attractions. It's a short drive to Llanberis, home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the National Slate Museum.
When is the best time to go to Penisarwaun?
While Penisarwaun is a lovely place to visit year-round, the best time to go is during the late spring and summer months, specifically from May to September.
During this period, you'll experience the mildest weather, with warmer temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the surrounding Snowdonia National Park. The longer daylight hours also mean more time for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and visiting local attractions. For instance, a hike up Snowdon will be much more pleasant when the paths are drier and the visibility is clearer.
Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find this time particularly appealing. The landscape is at its most verdant, great for scenic drives through the national park or enjoying a picnic by a lake. Many local pubs and restaurants also offer outdoor seating during these months, allowing you to enjoy the evenings in comfort.
For families, the summer holidays in July and August are an excellent choice. There are often more family-friendly events and activities taking place, and the weather is generally reliable enough for children to enjoy outdoor adventures, such as exploring the nearby castles or visiting the adventure parks.
