"It’s a lovely hotel. Great setting. Staff are good. The only disappointment is that if you are on bed and breakfast basis you have to pay £25 per person daily to use the pool. This extra charge for the spa is understandable but the pool is surely part of the general facilities of the hotel."

There were only three pillows for two people, and the robes included with the Executive King Room were ripped and clearly well-used. The bed was comfortable enough, though. "Always a wonderful stay here in this gorgeous Georgian Hotel. Very happy to accept our mini dachshund who was able to sit with us at breakfast. Staff were friendly and hospitable as per usual. Always there for anything but not unobtrusive. My wife had a anti aging facial in the spa and felt incredibly relaxed afterwards. The Superior room was spacious and perfect for our 3 night stay. A special mention for the shower which was possibly the best I have had in the UK. Maybe its the waters in Matlock Bath. They do say they are rejuvenating."
