The best hotel, luxury, amazing food, the service was the best I have experienced. We were allowed a early check in, late check out, borrowed hunters boots for walks, coincierge service was spot on ( thanks Kevin). Stunning spa and pool. The great hall is beautiful, highly recommend!!

Located right on the Cotswold Way with wonderful views, this hotel is a perfect destination for walkers or weekend jaunts. Now this is not a luxury spot with people running around getting massages and Bellinis, it's a straighforward country hotel providing very comfortable rooms with great views. Everything is perfectly clean and well cared for. The staff is top notch. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious (yes, good menus, really good food, very well prepared) and the service was en point!...

I don't normally use superlatives but for this place I am prepared to make an exception. We stayed for two nights and from start to finish it was an excellent experience. The welcome was warm. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The place was spotless - both the room and the common areas. The food was superb, the menu creative and the table service friendly and timely without being intrusive. Portion size was good too. Throughout our stay we were struck by the attention to detail. All the...

We have stayed at this hotel before prior to the refurbishment and loved it then. Even better now with the modern atrium brasserie. Chose this location to celebrate 'special' birthdays and the meal surpassed expectations. The hotel has a great atmosphere and the staff are extremely pleasant and welcoming. And the breakfasts ... we had eggs florentine which were cooked to perfection!

Really enjoyed our stay at the CGH, very very comfortable room and a breakfast worth instagramming. In walking distance of central Cheltenham (10 minutes) which was perfect for our short stay!
Kind & friendly staff. Special shout-out to Simon!

The hotel is charming, elegant and comfortable in a wonderful setting. The restaurant service is excellent.
A couple of small points. It would be an addition to one of the 3 lounges if a bar were installed to add further atmosphere particularly in the evening. I was not asked if I would like a news paper in the morning, which I subsequently learnt was included in the rate. The coffee in the morning breakfast was very weak. Would I return? definitely.

Great stay lovely hotel in great location. Room was nice but old flooring under carpet so very squeaky when walking around. Lovely comfy bed and very friendly staff. Would stay again. I did begrudge paying £15 to park especially as there is no barrier and no cameras so could have not paid and nobody would have known! Struck of money grabbing in a way. That said we did get a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary and red petals on the bed which was very nice touch.

For a luxurious and convenient stay in Gotherington, the best area is directly within the village centre, particularly around the main road, Gretton Road, and its immediate vicinity.

You'll find a selection of high-quality, independent accommodations, often converted from historic buildings, providing a sophisticated rural experience. The village centre is compact and walkable, making it easy to reach local amenities.
Couples looking for a peaceful and refined getaway will find this area particularly appealing. The proximity to scenic walking paths through the Cotswold Hills, often starting right from the village, allows for leisurely strolls and exploration of the beautiful countryside. The village itself provides a quiet retreat after a day of sightseeing.
For those planning to explore the wider Cotswolds, staying in the village centre offers excellent road access to nearby towns like Cheltenham and Broadway.
When is the best time to go to Gotherington?
The best time to visit Gotherington is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months when the weather is pleasant and the Cotswolds scenery is at its most beautiful.
Spring brings milder temperatures and the countryside bursts into life with blooming flowers and lush greenery. It's an excellent time for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling along the many trails surrounding Gotherington, offering stunning views of the rolling hills.
Autumn offers equally agreeable weather, with the added beauty of changing leaf colours across the Cotswolds. This period is superb for those who enjoy picturesque walks and exploring the local villages without the larger summer crowds.
