"We had a nice stay, staff were friendly and helpful, but the room was very dated and tired, it has the makings of a nice hotel once it’s been modernised. Overall, location and the staff 5 out of 5 "

"Tired, the foyer is impressive but then you see the out of order lift and the working one and they are in poor condition. The room was reasonably clean but the carpet heavily stained and the furniture badly stained and marked. Loose fittings in the tired bathroom. I had to ask for more towels as they had only put two face towels out. Curtains need rehanging. During my brief stay the one working lift broke down but was fixed within a short time. At 11pm a knock on the door from house keeping to say the smoke detector in my room was reporting smoke. I had not smoked nor vaped in the room. Breakfast food was good and lots available. Coffee machine was reasonable too. Seems to be a popular hotel with large school parties and has a lot of events. I was lucky I managed to get parking outside for my entire stay as the underground car park is dangerously narrow and has a very steep ramp which would be very difficult in a large car. Overall I think it could be a good hotel if it had a refurb. Then it would carry its four stars more accurately."

"We got a room in the basement for this last stay. Never again! Our first night in particular was really disturbed. The previous time we stayed was perfect but will ensure I ask for a non basement room next time. Staff at this hotel are lovely, the rooms are of a good standard and value for money but my advice is steer clear of the basement"
