Overall our experience was great at the Atlantis and I do recommend it, especially with kids to do a getaway weekend. First, if you can I would recommend upgrading to the Imperial Club. We opted to eat breakfast here all 3 mornings because it was quiet (you didn't have to compete with others at the big buffet) and while it was a smaller selection you didn't feel overwhelmed. All the nights we were so full from our lunch we just snacked here instead of eating dinner and played card games with the kids. Second, if you can splurge get a cabana at the water park. We decided no dolphin experience or diving, but we would splurge on the cabana which gives you a locker, towels, a cabana boy and most importantly a quiet-secluded place to chill out while you are at the water park the entire day. This provided a "base" for us and our kids could go off on their own. Third, the pools were fantastic. We played water volleyball at the zero entry and also spent a bit at the beach. Finally, we are gym rats and we thought the gym was well appointed and very nice. I did do a run around the boardwalk and resort which made for a nice 1-hr morning jog. This is a very typical resort - everything is ala carte and you will be swiping your credit card left and right. You will also need to take a cab to get to places like the malls. However, we felt that the staff was so warm and genuine and on top of everything - from the moment we were picked up at the airport to check-out.

"The suite was amazing except the noise and service"
The room was an amazing one, with a great marina view, but when it is about 10:00pm the party started at the opposite side, very loud music, I really couldn't sleep, I called the reception to complain but they did nothing.

We stayed at the Al Waha hotel in one of the 3 hotels in the Shangrila Resort. The Al Waha did not match the worldwide Shangrila expected standards in luxury and comfort. it looked like a busy touristy hotel. Even the entrance was not as grand as the other 2 hotels in the complex. It looked like a poor relative. If I knew that there was such vast difference between the standards of the 3 hotels I would not have booked it.
We ended up using the restaurants and facilities of the other 2 hotels.
