We have stayed at the Daffodil many times since it opened. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are always polite and happy to help. The only thing that lets it down is the restaurant and bar. The food used to be fantastic when it first opened, but now we find it is expensive and the quality ...
We stayed from 2nd to the 4th January and were made to feel very welcome, immediately. Dinner was exceptional and the portions very good indeed. It is very accessible despite being a little outside of Bowness, as taxis are easy to get and very cheap. Breakfast on both mornings was great - a variety ...
Very convenient for the buses to everywhere you want to go. Hotel very welcoming blazing fire just so relaxing. Staff are lovely. Been here a couple of times and would come back again. Rooms are beautiful and very clean. Bed comfy too. Great selection for breakfast. We ate in the Dove adjacent to ...
We stayed there just for one night for our wedding anniversary weekend. Beautifully renovated 18th century cottage (used to be a coach inn), labour of love as the owners describe it - welcoming, clean, comfortable and with a gorgeous cooked breakfast in the morning- we will definitely come back ...

It was a lovely hotel, most of staff were so nice. It’s the food that let it down for us. Quite expensive for what it was more like pub grub. What was on the menu is not actually what you get on the plate. Overall though we would stay there again if it was a cheap rate.
Lovely stay, such great attention to detail with service and accommodation, memorable experience and one we won't forget!
With acres of idyllic countryside and numerous charming and picturesque villages, Cumbria is easily one of England's most romantic counties. Highlights include the historic city of Carlisle and the long stretch of coastline, but the main event is undoubtedly the Lake District, which covers almost 3,000 square kilometres of the county. As it's such a popular holiday destination, Cumbria is home to some spectacular hotels, many of which are perfect for romantic getaways.
Travelling couples are often drawn to the Cumbrian coastline. Being right at the edge of the county has a unique feeling about it, and there's always ample opportunity for a lengthy walk. One of the real charms of Cumbria's long coastline, though, are the sunsets. Looking out to the west, visitors can watch the sun go down over the ocean. As you'd expect, the coast is peppered with fine bars and restaurants, particularly in the popular seaside resorts such as Seascale.
Bailey Ground Lodge gives guests direct access to the beach. The 3-star hotel also offers free WiFi, which makes it easy for couples to plan excursions inland, to explore the famous Lake District.
There's something incredibly romantic about stealing away with a loved one to a tranquil, rural location in search of nothing but total relaxation. That's precisely the kind of holiday had by thousands of couples in the UK each year when they set off for Cumbria.
There's no shortage of spa hotels in Cumbria, providing a whole host of relaxing treatment and therapies, often set in stunning grounds and elegant, period properties.
One of the county's most popular spa hotels is The Wordsworth Hotel, which is located in Ambleside, not far from Lake Grasmere. The hotel houses an organic spa, ideal for chilling out as a pair. There are also plenty of pretty walks nearby.
Fans of history will be drawn into the historic city of Carlisle. The castle and cathedral are obvious highlights, while Hadrian's Wall is just half an hour's drive away. Coupled will rejoice at the plethora of exquisite restaurants in town and the number of welcoming B&Bs near the city centre.
