Explore the Past: B&Bs near Christchurch Harbour

The natural harbour was formed over 7,000 years ago during the Ice Age. As the sea level rose, it flooded the wetlands close to the shore and Christchurch Harbour was created. There is still evidence of the early settlers who were drawn to the area; many of the ironstone boulders that were prized by Iron Age Man are still to be found near the remains of a settlement at Hengistbury Head. Thankfully, accommodation is a far cry from those early village huts! B&Bs in the area make an ideal base for families who want to explore the area but are watching their budget.
