The property is old and consequently does not have that modern minimalistic feel to it. I think the beds could do with replacing as you can feel the springs through the mattress topper. The stairs are a challenge on par with climbing Snowden. So why did we come back? The Staff and ambience and the quality of the food and the feeling that you belong here and so welcomed. I love it. The patrons are warm and friendly and happy to chat with you. The staff are wonderful and I have to say that Ben is amazing. He sees what’s going on around corners and they all work hard. Staff helpful. Food below average. No hot water on Sunday morning and cold shower just before checkout not acceptable. Pub did good food and a good selection of beers and drinks Lots of stairs to room and even though good value the rooms could have a little TLC, but can’t knock how clean the room was and how fresh the bedding was. Live music down in bed but not heard in the room Great staff team that made you feel welcome.
