The transfer to the hotel was about 15 minutes by shuttle bus. At the hotel we were greated by a member of staff that was polite and really helpful. They even offered to take in my luggage at the door.
Everywhere in the hotel other guests will say Ola as a greating. I felt truely at home. There is a metro that is about 5 minutes walk away on the left that takes you into central Madrid, and from there it easy to walk to all attractions.
Every staff member I asked a question to, assisted me and helped me so much. They were all extremely professional and if they didn't know the answer, they made sure to get me the answer. Plus it was a very nice and comfortable suite.
Stayed 6 days and the hotel was very handy if on business in the north of Madrid. Also very closed to Hospital Ramon y Cajal if you are visiting family If you live far from Madrid.
Breakfast is very good and wifi is OK specially if you need to be on-line and work remotely.
I stayed for six nights at this Hotel. The plus points was the location within minutes of the local metro and train station. Also a hidden gem is a ten minute walk heading towards Charmartin bus station, take a right at the end past The Good Burger Fast Food Outlet and keep on walking down to find lots of little clothes shops, food outlets at cheap prices. The outdoor swimming pool is big and manned by excellent staff (don't forget your ticket from reception). The cleaning staff are excellent and very good at their job. Everyone, apart from one young male member of staff on Reception is nice. This one guy refused me a plaster when I cut myself shaving, but, in the end he gave in saying he didn't understand despite me standing at Reception with blood was pouring from my chin. The negatives was the evening meal of crispy chicken salad with tinned chewy mushrooms. The menu is rather boring and needs updating with a better, more quality choice. I didn't pay for Breakfast as there is nice Coffee shops at the Station. The biggest problem with this Hotel is the slamming room doors. It's a huge nightmare and will keep you awake at night. Lot's of people were complaining about this problem. Please sort it out!!!!!!
We spent 2 nights at Don Pio in Madrid and it was perfect. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is very elegant - but not stuffy. It is a charming hotel with lots of wood and light. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The location is perfect because there is a bus stop out front and a metro stop across the street. On the suggestion from one of their nice desk clerks, we took the bus all the way down to Puerta del Sol so we had a nice tour of the city on the way. They have a small bar in the hotel and it was really relaxing to stop in and have a drink when we got back each night.

In northern Madrid, Chamartín train station is the second-largest after Atocha. This is mainly a business district although the residential area south of it contains plush low-rise apartment blocks and houses. At the circular Plaza de Castilla, next to the bus station, loom the two iconic black leaning towers called the Puerta de Europa.
