"bad, terribly kept rooms and dirty"

"The hotel is nice. The hotel pub is the same. And the staff is polite. The coffee machine DID NOT WORK in the room. You couldn’t even put the mug (from the hotel room not my personal one) to pour coffee in it because it is too big. In the room there are no sockets. I wanted to charge my laptop and other devices, I didn’t have where. There are two “sockets” on one side and the other of the bed STRICTLY for phone cables. Meaning you insert the cable directly. That’s it. In the end I discovered the socket from the coffee machine and I dried my hair there with the hairdryer scattering the hair that was falling all over the mugs and kettle etc. At check out I was asked if everything is ok and I mentioned about the coffee machine and sockets. I was told that there are sockets in the room. I asked where? She said behind the television. I said thank you, I am not going to start moving the desk in the hotel room and the television to discover a possible socket hidden behind the television. People don’t go to a hotel to unplug the coffee machine, the kettle and the television. So that they can dry their hair or charge the phone laptop etc. All these should already be connected and additional sockets, not to unplug something from the socket so that I can use something else. For those who doubt that what I wrote would be true, or a possible reply from the hotel in which it will be said how it wouldn’t be as I wrote here, I inform you that I have videos from the hotel room."

"Lovely hotel with pleasant staff. Our room was a great size with a bathroom that had a deep bath and a walk in shower. It was all very clean. There was air conditioning in the room that had to work hard as it was nearly 30° and it it did a great job! There were plenty of spaces in the car park although there was a parking charge. Took us about 10 nins to walk into the main area of Chester. We didn't eat in the hotel so unable to comment on the food although we noticed the dining room looked nice. Would definitely stay again."

"Fabulous location central to everything. Superb restaurants next to the hotel.. spoilt for choice!! Also breakfast at the hotel itself was loverly… the choice was amazing from fresh fruit, cereals, pastries and cooked breakfasts. Staff and receptionists were very helpful and loverly and went above and beyond to make my birthday stay special!"

"We were very unimpressed with the state of the building. We were in a tiny room in the attic with a bathroom that had no air con or extraction or any window that would open. The main room had a single socket that was practicably useful but from which it was impossible to position a fan to point at the beds. The patio area outside had broken glass on it that they seemed oblivious to until we raised it. It was cleared up half an hour later. There was torn wallpaper in one of the corridors. Overall, the quality of the building fell below what I had experienced on previous stays. We were entitled to a 20% Expedia discount which wasn't factored into our check out bill until I queried it. Had I not queried it, I don't believe that I would have had my discount. Food quality was good. The number of unavailable items was a concern. Both of our starters were not available. At breakfast, Eggs Benedict was off because they had run out of muffins. How does a competent procurement operation run out of muffins? It's not like they have a shelf life measured in hours! The hotel is a wedding venue. The material in the bar seemed to indicate a (starting?) price of about £10,000 yet the bar could not do basic cocktails. Four were available: all from a cannister through a bartop tap. There were 3 types of Martini and a Strawberry Daiquiri. We tried the Strawberry Daiquiri and it tasted synthetic. I had stayed here before without problem but not again"

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester

"Stay at Doubletree in Chester was very good. The room was very clean, bed was super comfy and it was very modern. The hotel décor, spa facilities, restaurant and bar area including the outside area and patio was well maintained. One particular Receptionist had no clue how to do her job whatsoever. The other Receptionist not too sure of her name, a younger girl was very pleasant and clearly knew how to do her job well. Two things needed to be improved, we tried to check in our room just after 3pm and it wasn't ready. We decided to go and have a drink on the patio as it was a very hot day, the clueless Receptionist wasn't very apologetic at this and tried to make out we were wrong, when in fact we were right that we could check in at 3pm as stated on the app!! It was extremely busy as we stayed over a Bank Holiday and clearly, the staff were not prepared for the amount of people who were staying, breakfast was very busy, tables weren't laid out, no clean cutlery on there or mug available, I had to ask a waitress fornsome for me and my husband. The breakfast was good quality and even better included in the price. The location of the hotel is ideal and central if wanting to explore Chester. Would certainly recommend and the welcome cookie was a nice added extra."
