Great value and location

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff and the character of the hotel.
Cons: Some variation in breakfast
Location: Very close to Duomo, but everything is in easy walking distance in any case in,Florence
Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was mediocre and the same every day, but still good for the price and in a pleasant first floor dining area. Hotel is in central location a couple of streets away from the Duomo, however still seemed relatively quiet and peaceful inside. We were given one of the apartments close by, which turned out to have the best combination of old-fashioned furniture in the living and bedroom areas with a clean and modern bathroom. Both the hotel and apartments had great character and what I guess you might expect/hope for in somewhere like Florence. Maid service was also very good and regular. I suppose some people may think there were not many facilities, but who cares when you're out all day anyway?

Nice Florence Hotel!

Very convenient location in the middle of everything! Older building but modern facilities. Walking distance to the Duomo in Florence! Hard to find if driving; roads are narrow and crowded! It is better to take a taxi to get there.

good location. terrible shower

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Close to everything, literally a minutes walk to the cathedral and all the designer shops. Great view from roof and luckily out of our room window. Some staff lovely some rude. Shower was literally a drip. Wouldn't really recommend but if you find it cheap enough like we two poor students did and you aren't expecting much then it's alright probably would find somewhere else next time though

Great location. Not bad for the price however air con didn't work well and walls were thin and linens were old and scratchy.

excellent location

Cons: Breakfasts, see above. Perhaps ttea/coffee making facilities in rooms
Location: A few meters from the Florence Duomo. Florence is very walkable and the hotel is excellently placed for the sights.
we arrived at the hotel, few thanks to Ryanair, who managed to take off an hour late, to get the wonderful news that we had been given a room overlooking the Duomo in Florence. The welcome was very good, the room for the three of us was fine - reasonable size (no TV if that worries you and no tea/coffee making facilities, but comfortable beds, a good balcony and a clean bathroom (although the shower drainage could have been better!). Unfrotunately, the breakfasts were rather poor - bread rolls only, a few biscuits and packets of butter and jam and juice from a machine which, if you were at the later end of breakfast, was so weak as to be almost water. However, coffee, again from the machine, was good and the waitress, although harried, was very polite and helpful. All in all a good stay and thanks Expedia. (Ryanair also an hour late with the flight home! )

Great location

Great location. It was easy to get around. We were given an apartment in another building and it had a kitchen and living room. The breakfast wasn't very much. Just bread basically.

Fabulous location !

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Location ! Location ! Location ! Clean and wonderful roof views.
Cons: Wifi could be all over hotel. Breakfast could stretch beyond basic rolls to croissants.
Location: Did I mention: Location ! Location ! Location ... and wonderful roof views.
From the communal roof garden you can almost the Duomo. Modest but clean and helpful staff, small elevator worked well, wifi signal only reliable around first floor where modest breakfast served, but OK and available access all day, so overall very reasonable.

Hotel Constantine

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Ideally situated for sight seeing
Cons: If I book a room in a hotel Medici, then I expect to be staying in hotel Medici. and not bumped off into another hotel
We were suppose to be in Hotel Medici but on arrival we transferred to Hotel Constantini. Which we were not really happy with . Hotel Medici appears to be a proper hotel with a roof terrace etc. whereas Hotel Constantini just occupies the 2nd floor of a block of flats The main problem with Hotel Constatini is that it is situated right in the centre of the town, about 20 yards from the Domo. There was a lot of early morning vehicle and pedestrian traffic - starts to get quite noisey from about 0600 hrs onwards and If that didnt wake you up, then the bells of the Domo would start chiming at 0800 every morning. and they surely will. Hotel Medici is situated 100-200 yards further away from all the street activities so may well be quitier There are 8 flights of stairs to get to the 2nd floor of Hotel Constantini. there is a lift, but the door of the lift jams quite regularly in the openly position, putting the lift out of action, Walking up 8 flights of stairs is not ideal if you are not good on your legs. I reported the problem but the hotel doesnt appear to be interested in fixing the problem Air conditioning is not very good - if you try and regulate the temperature below 20c it malfunctions. The most annoying thing is that you have to ask for the air conditioning to be switched back on, because they keep switching it off on a regular bases Both Hotels are Ideally situated for seeing all the sights

DONT STAY HERE

Posted 02-Jul-2014
This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was muggy and smelled rotten because when you leave they turn the air conditioning off on you. The staff were rude and not by any means helpful. It was a very uncomfortable environment. And even though it is a non smoking hotel the night person was smoking in the commun room. It was outrageous the things that occurred during my stay. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Excellent location.

Pros: Excellent location. Clean. Lots of water in the shower :)
Cons: Noise isolation windows.
Location: Very close to the Duomo, Uffizi, Piazza della Republicca.
This is a great choice for value travellers. It's a little noisy, no air conditioning but hey, it's also nice and comfortable.
