Great location... Don't get fooled by the outside apperencence. From the outside the hotel looks a bit scary and looks like y may have made a bad choice. The location is very us close to everything
And rooms are roomy.and clean. Staff I as great.
We had booked a standard double room for the night on our return from Istanbul and checked in late, about 7.45pm. For whatever reason, we were upgraded to a Junior Suite, what a knock-out. Large bedroom, lounge, separate kitchen and well appointed bathroom. The entire suite was super clean and the staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was fresh and plenty of variety including my favourite, scrambled eggs and bacon, a first for Italy.
Location is superb, about 100 metres from Piazza San Marco.
You can't get better than this.
This was our third stay in Venice in 6 weeks and by far the cheapest and best.
I have been to Venice many times .It was the first time I had stayed at this Hotel
I would not stay at this hotel again.
Although it is in Piazza San Marco the only befit is, it is very central. From my room the windows over looked a very noisy pizza restaurant.
The rooms are poky dark and claustrophobia
The room was clean and the decoration was cheap made to look opulent. The bath was small and it was only possible to sit in and not lay down.
The breakfast room was incredibly small consisting of.I had breakfast in my room, as the egg and bacon was not made on the premises it was stone cold when it arrived.
I feel the hotel is very basic not worth the price . I believe for the price it is possible to find a much better hotel .
It has no lift and the stairs are narrow.
I would say book this hotel with caution and don’t expect too much then you will not be too disappointed
Do not take heavy luggage as the track from the water Taxi or water bus to the accommodation is not short.
This hotel is not for small children it more for couples

An elegant secluded corner.. in the heart of Venice. An antique palace- masterfully restored- with a prestigious and elegant …More
It was quite a difficult place to find as there are several different entrances and reception areas. However once we found it the welcome was very pleasant and check in quick and efficient.
We had a family suite which had lots of space and was ideal for us and our 2 children 13 and 11.In fact more than we needed for a short break and we really wished we could stay longer so next time would have no hesitation in returning and to book a longer break.
We got off our train and the hotel is right across from train station. Booked a regular room and got a mini suite, 20' x 17', pleasant surprise. Hotel staff helpful and efficient in booking tours of Uffizi and Academia. We planned to take the train to go to Siena on our own but found out that morning the trains and buses were on strike for one day. Spur of the moment changed our plans and hopped on a local "Walkabout" bus tour right across from train station and hotel. 12 hour tour visited Siena, Chianti Hills with wine tasting and lunch, San Gimignano and Pisa, good value at 90 Euro per person. Went to Santa Maria Novella Basilica near the hotel for Sunday mass for an Italian religious experience and the Archbishop of Florence was there, another good surprise. This was our first visit to Florence and spent most of our four days there hoping from museums to churches. Recommend that if you only have a few days there, select just a few museums and churches to tour and allow enough time to leisurely and aimlessly stroll along the narrow side streets and take in the charm, sit down and people watch and check out the architecture around you. Mid October is a great time to visit, less tourists and no need to buy Firenze Pass, just book through hotel staff.
The Palazzo Selvadego is the sister hotel to the Monaco Grand Canal in San Marco, which is only a few minutes walk away from St. Marks Square. Totally unassuming as it only bears a small plaque outside. Inside a small reception with upper levels where the bedrooms are allocated. On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to a junior suite which was excellent with wooden floors, a bathroom on-suite,a lounge area and a large wardrobe area and wooden beamed ceilings. We had booked room only so we had breakfast at the Monaco Grand Canal overlooking the lagoon and where the gondoliers were active. Beautiful setting and fully recommend this hotel as the staff were also very attentive and helpful and rooms were kept well serviced.
