"Nice clean warm room, was a little bit of noise which was to be expected in the centre , it didn’t disturb us. Breakfast was nice and served tea/coffee at the table which was nice"

"I did mention that the fridge in my room must be faulty as it froze my bottle of water. I was concerned that a guest may put medications in it and this would cause a problem. Although the receptionist said someone would look at it, it was still the same the next day. Also the fridge was quite noisy. Other than that the staff were very friendly and obliging."

"Really nice hotel friendly staff We arrived at 1.15 check in was 2pm so we had a couple of drinks and decided to have the carvery lunch which was advertised as 12.30-16.30 However when we went at 15.15 was told that they had run out and closed, obviously very disappointed. Was told the bar would serve food from 4pm so had more drinks and waited Bar food ok nothing special but fine. Rooms were nice but no way to open windows to get fresh air. Beds comfy hotel quiet. "The rooms were clean, the staff are professional and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food to choose from. The location is great close to stores, pubs and restaurants. The metro is right there and just 20 minutes away from the airport. "

"Usually choose HI express when in Newcastle. Easy to drive to , car park next door , everything we need (pubs and gigs) in easy walking distance. Staff always locals so helpful and friendly"

"Hotel was ok, was about right for the price. A little noisy at night. Hotel staff were excellent. My partner left some belongings in the hotel room and the staff contacted us a few hours later after we checked out and we were able to collect. Thank you Colin and staff."

"For the price it was excellent value The heating didn’t work in our room (hot water and shower did work and shower was lovely) but we did have a heater which worked a treat. There was complimentary breakfast bag and free coffee machine in the morning "

"Really enjoyed our stay based in a recently built (or upgraded?) annex. Very friendly staff who were helpful and supportive. We ate one night in the hotel and enjoyed a wide ranging choice of menu. Food was served quickly (although we did have to chase the waiter for the dessert menu). Excellent location for touring the area. 10 minutes drive to Morpeth and the A1 (or national rail) and 5 minutes from the coast at Newbiggin. There is a country park on the outskirts of Ashington.
