(1,259 reviews) The Leonardo hotel in Southampton is decent value for money. The room is spacious, and the staff simply amazing. Little if any noise gets in from outside so you’ll have a great night sleep, and the breakfast is very good for this price bracket. However the location is a bit… weird. If you’ve stepped off the airport bus (itself great value) at Giddy Bridge and approach the hotel it’s just… awkward to get into. Although there are traffic lights right there, you have to walk another block to the next set of lights to be able to cross to the hotel… and if you come from another direction there’s a fair chance you’ll have the same problem because it’s as if it, and it’s partner building, were built in the middle of a roundabout (or should that be speedtrack given the pace the drivers go?) The rooms are also a bit tired. The carpet in my room at the bed leg was completely worn through, and the shower head was not pleasant, I would expect a rainfall one at this price point. (1,261 reviews) The room was comfortable and clean, with a kettle provided for tea and coffee, which was great. The only thing missing was guest toiletries — cotton pads are always handy. I usually bring my own, but on this occasion I had forgotten them, so they would have been a nice addition. Breakfast offered a decent selection. The egg option was scrambled only, but I was told that if I wanted something different, they would make it. I would suggest adding a second tea/coffee station, as there was a queue every time. The location of the hotel was great. We were there for a show at the Hippodrome, and it was only a 10-minute walk. Would not hesitate to stay here again. (196 reviews) We had a wonderful stay here with our son, both sets of grandparents, and our dog, and it was perfect for everyone. From the moment we arrived, the first impression was fantastic. The spa was lovely and a great place to relax, and the food was brilliant throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious, although it did take a little while to arrive. The hotel is very family-friendly, with a lovely kids’ room and outdoor space that our little one really enjoyed. It’s also amazing for dogs, which made travelling with our pet so easy and enjoyable. We stayed in the 4-bedroom Grand Cottage, which was fantastic. Having private parking and easy access to all the facilities made everything very convenient. The staff were incredibly friendly and very accommodating, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it.
