I take the train into NYC every day for work so the last thing I want to do is spend time in the city but my wife doesn't get in as often and this weekend was about her and celebrating her 50th birthday. We got in on Saturday afternoon just as check-in time started but our room wasn't quite ready so they sent us to the bar to wait and we started our weekend with 2 glasses of champagne on the house. We checked back at the desk before heading out for a walk and they had upgraded us to a room that was ready. It was a junior suite that was big for NYC standards, old-school beautiful and immaculate. We checked out the huge bathroom, unpacked our clothes into the walk-in closet and relaxed a bit on the couch and chair before walking around the neighborhood. After dinner at a great farm-to-table restaurant not too far away (blatant plug for Mas farmhouse), we came back to the hotel and had a drink at the Jade bar watching the stream of people in and out of the crazy popular Rose bar. Finally, we went back upstairs to our very comfortable king-size bed and celebrated in birthday fashion more reminiscent of our 20s than our late 40s. Sunday was brunch at our favorite Cuban place from when we lived in the city, recently moved up to East Harlem, a leisurely walk back down to the theatre district for a show. It was a great weekend and the Gramercy Park Hotel was at the center of it.
Well Done - nice hotel - GREAT STAFF! Safe, clean and rooms are newly renovated. Certainly recommend it to others. Breakfast was ok - BUT most of all we appreciated having that service included with our stay.
Modern spacious rooms with well equipped bathrooms and storage. The evening wine and cheese reception was welcome after long days of sightseeing. Gabrielle, the hostess was wonderful - so welcoming and charming. The continental breakfast was ample and included plenty of healthy options. We would stay again and recommend the hotel to others.

"Comfortable hotel in a convenient part of the city"
We enjoyed our stay and found the staff very friendly. The rooms are clean and the beds are quite comfortable. Staying in this area is also very convenient. You can easily access subways or you can walk to a lot of points of interest. I would definitely recommend the Evelyn to friends.
I was attracted to the Inn at Irving Place because of it's proximity to the charm of Gramercy Park. The Inn did not disappoint. It has old world charm and is an island of calm in bustling Manhattan. Irving Place is a neighborhood unto itself. You feel like you've been transported back to an earlier era of city life. It's quiet and there are many shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is well managed and is very intimate. There are currently only 10 rooms. I really enjoyed the daily breakfast, laid out in their tea room. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom immaculate.
Very helpful staff! They checked us in early which was a life saver after a red eye flight. The hotel bar lounge and lobby is very lively 24/7. Not really a place to relax and read a newspaper with coffee but fantastic if that's your thing. The interior design of the rooms felt sophisticated but was looking a little old and worn in places. The carpet and shower in particular looked tired. Super comfortable bed! Great room and maid service, fantastic location.
"Excellent new hotel in the great location. A must"
I usually seek a new 5 star hotel in Manhattan as they are popping up everywhere. When I saw the pictures online, I loved the style, location, etc. The hotel was better than expected. Modern classic design, large room, large shower, nice bathroom. Great fluffy comforters. The view of Madison Sq Park was great. Across the park is Eataly which we all love for quick Italian meals or coffee. Just steps away is the Flatiron and Lower 5th shopping area with all the major brands (mid-price) such as Zara, J Crew, Joe Fresh, Paul Smith, etc. Check out Club Monaco's flagship there with Toby's Coffee and Strand book store inside- It is so well done! Go down to ABC on Broadway and 17th for great furniture or bohemian shopping. ABC Cafe is also excellent. There are so many places for foodies near by from Gramercy Park area to Chelsea. It is close enough to walk down to NYU, Soho, East Village, Greenich Village and Meat Packing.
George Washington marks the midpoint of Union Square, a well-groomed park that offers respite from Manhattan's masses. Known for its weekly Greenmarket, which unites foodies with farmers, the park is surrounded by a vibrant neighborhood of shops and restaurants and is convenient to Greenwich Village and downtown to the south. Just north stands one of New York City's iconic buildings, the Flatiron.
