The rooms are extremely small, so if you are travelling with a big suitcase, it wouldn't be a good option for you. Aside from that, the room is very cozy and I would definitely stay here again. We requested one staff member to call the taxi for us for the next morning, but he informed us the taxis were "fully booked". I feel like the staff did not put much effort looking for a taxi for us. He told me to take the metro instead since he was not able to schedule a taxi for us. That was quite disappointing.

"Close to Sugamo Station, safe and quiet area."
The hotel is a simple place and easy to get to from Sugamo Station (JR), along with the subway/metro that also runs there. It is close to another JR station Otsukaekimae Station should you need it... 700m away. For the price and location it is quite a good buy.

The rooms are small for US standards. That is okay. The price was right and the location is good. I would use it again. Because of the small size and it is a complete unit with shower and bath, it smells musty. I think they need to air them out. I could not open the window and the bathroom had no fan.

"Decent hotel close to Ueno Station!"
Overall experience is a positive one. Though it was a very small hotel room with a very small bathroom, this room did it's job, which was to provide me with a bed to sleep in overnight and a private bathroom with a shower for an affordable low price in Tokyo. Honestly, I don't mind the small room but the small bathroom was a bit uncomfortable as it made it a bit challenging to move around in the bathroom even for my small stature. There are at least four 24 hour convenience stores within walking distance to this hotel. If you're wanting a more comfortable hotel room then this might not be the place for you but if you're just looking for a cheap place to rest your head for the night with it's own private bathroom then I would recommend this place. Would I consider staying here again? Sure, I love the Ueno area of Tokyo and would definitely stay in this area again at this hotel, however, I will keep my options open.

"Truly Japanese Experience"
I stayed here for 4 nights total on 2 different occasions while in Tokyo. (So good I booked again) This is Japanese culture at it's best. The rules are the rules. All out by 1000. Check in starts 1600. No underwear in the bath area. No shoes to be worn. Stiff money penalties for losing locker keys. Women have a separate floor but can use the lounge area with the guys level 4. The rules are what makes the place a truly Japanese experience. Locker area is vey busy at times. I seen over 20 people waiting to check in at 0015 one morning. The capsule experience is one thing all westerners should try in Japan for at least one night and just put up with the rules. The capsule area was very quiet except one night when you could hear people trying to sing at a nearby venue. Give the capsule experience a go and why sleep the same as you do every other night.

Easily one of the best and cleanest hostels that I've stayed at in Japan. I will definitely go back the next time I'm visiting Tokyo. The staff was super friendly and nice. I was a little sad that I had to go back to my home prefecture. Lol.
