"This is a rather strange property. The building itself has lots of lovely heritage features, giving a good initial experience. Our first room, a 1br suite was themed for the titanic. I don’t mean this in a “it was a disaster and he’s trying to be funny” kind of way, I mean it litteraly was themed for the titanic, pictures of the ship sinking on the walls and cushions of the captain’s face on the bed, as well as newspapers and other memorabilia. Although I understand the captain has a local connection, I can’t help but think this is a bizarre choice for a room theme - it’s more macabre than romantic. Oh, and on a total commitment to its theme, it leaked on the first night, seeing us moved to a less disturbing but still oddly themed room with a Scottish style tartan feature wall and deer/highland cows dressed in suits. The staff were amazing and attentive however, always lots of smiles and friendly, however one odd was that the bar worker was untrained, on his second night, and being supervised by someone who was also untrained on the bar. I appreciate you have to start somewhere, but both staff members struggled to understand the POS and I could only but wonder why his training was not being done by a bar staff member. Breakfast was mostly good, fried eggs are on the buffet, and a request for poached eggs was filled with a smile by a very cheerful chef. The gym/pool was a £5 up charge not disclosed in the hotel description."

"I booked this for my daughter and her partner as part of a surprise birthday trip after they have worked all through lockdown, he took a video and the cottage looked amazing and really inviting, it’s spotless and really comfortable, fair to say they didn’t want to come home. Thank you for making their weekend complete."
