"The hotel was clean and modern. The breakfast in the adjacent restaurant was good although it wasn't available on the Monday. The toilet seat in my room wouldn't stay up. The TV remote didn't work. With the help of a friend we worked out how to switch the power on to the TV (behind the screen) and we were able to control it using the buttons underneath the bottom right of the TV. We worked out how to switch on the power to the shower by using the pull chord. I discovered that my double bed was two single beds pushed together. I did sleep reasonably well. Overall I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was in a convenient location for the town centre and for public transport to the Beamish Museum and the Tanfield Railway. The staff member I spoke to was friendly."

"This is a beautiful property with lots of history and character but not at expense of a comfy bed and decent bathroom etc. Has a lift and a self check in which was helpful. We are in the restaurant for brekky and dinner and it was great and they did fabulous cocktails in the Tickets Bar. Good location close to station obviously and was quiet and comfy whilst also being a big fancy. Would stay again."

"The customer service from all hotel staff was fantastic! Everyone was so friendly, polite, and extremely helpful. Deluxe twin room was large and spacious, however the bathroom was looking tired and in need of a refresh. Brilliant location in the city centre - everywhere was in walking distance. Would definitely stay there again."
