"We initially booked to stay for 4 nights with the aim of moving further north afterwards. However, the hotel, the room, its staff and the food, were all excellent and, as a result we stayed a further 3 nights. Housekeeping was first rate. Food in the restaurant saw very good (and we ate in every night). All of the staff were helpful and friendly (special mention to Jess on Reception). Overall, we enjoyed an excellent stay and would readily use the hotel again."

"Overall an excellent experience! The hotel reception, restaurant and our room were lovely, bright, clean and the view of the river was wonderful. The breakfast is well worth the price, really excellent food. The staff were attentive and helpful, everyone says hello as you walk past. Our room was very comfortable and spotless. Really good value for money. The bed and pillows were particularly comfortable which I appreciated after a 6 hour journey! The only reason I’ve not given it 5 stars was because of the unpleasant smell lingering between the lifts on the second floor to halfway down the corridor to our room. It was in an isolated area so wondered if it was part of the sewage system. I’ll caveat this by saying I have a strong sense of smell- my daughter wasn’t as bothered by it as I was and our room wasn’t affected at all so it didn’t effect our stay."

"it was our first time staying here, was well worth every penny. from getting out of our car we knew it was going to be excellent, we cannot find any faults at all with the hotel staff food etc. we will be back for another wonderfull stay"

"The castle is amazing, such a wonderful place to stay. Alex in the bar provided excellent service both to me and all other visitors making their experience a joy. I would definitely recommend, the restaurant staff need to bring the same level of care and service as the bar, being on my own they didn’t think about where best to sit me in the restaurant and seemed annoyed when I wasn’t ready to order. Just small things make the difference to an experience. Overall wonderful and so much history to absorb"

"Check-in and check-out at reception were very smooth. The room was very clean, well maintained, and easy to use. The hotel is also very close to the station, which made it very convenient. I felt it was an ideal place to stay for a business trip."
