"Wonderful gem! We had a whirlwind stay for just 2 nights between docking at Southampton and leaving for Heathrow, but we crammed in a trip to Brighton to see family. The location of the inn was perfect: we could've gone into central Southampton easily enough, and having the train station a few minutes walk away was perfect for getting around. I only wish we'd had more energy and time to hang around the pub some more!"

"This is a beautiful hotel very centrally located for port and town , very clean, great amenities , very pleasant and helpful staff, special recognition to Lewis at reception. No parking at this hotel but parking is just over the road at a reasonable cost. Would def book this hotel again on our next cruise stop over."

"Walkable to the train station and cruise terminals. But the property was pootly maintained. Our room locked but the common front door doesn't lock and is not secure. There was peeling paint in our room, no control of room heat, no towels, no cups, no control over shower water temperature and no remote for the very small TV."

"We stayed one night pre-cruise and found this hotel to be very, very good. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Our room and the newly refurbished bathroom was immaculately clean. The bathroom was large; the bedroom was small as was the bed but for a short stay it was great. We were at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet. No lift and our room was on 1st floor, we didn’t need to, but hotel offered to keep out large cases in secure place to save carrying them upstairs. We also had dinner at the hotel and it was very good. Breakfast was good. The only slight constructive feedback would be the reception / communal areas are a bit dated not that this would stop us staying again. Overall would definitely recommend to others."

"For the price, not worth it. The hotel itself was fine. There were some annoying things that stood out though. For example, if you need to use a hair dryer, they provide one but there's no plug in the bathroom. And when you use it outside of the bathroom, there is no mirror with a plug nearby. We also had the front desk help us schedule taxis to take us to the cruise port. Beware...we waited for more than 30 minutes and only one taxi arrived (we needed two). After more than half an hour of waiting, I went to the front desk, which was not helpful. I was hoping they would at least contact the taxi company to check on the status of the second ride, but all they did was assure me that it was coming. After 45 minutes of waiting, I got an Uber instead. For such a high status hotel, I just expected overall better customer service. There's something about the front desk staff as well - they did not come across as very warm. They were professional and answered questions, but something felt missing."

Botleigh Grange Hotel & Spa

"Just before we arrived, I received a message to say the pool & spa were being refurbished, this was disappointing as it's the reason we booked over other hotels, but these things happen. On arrival we were told that there was a wedding and they were very busy with those guests. The room wasn't the cleanest, with cobwebs on the lamp & light fittings and one looked half hanging off, and I felt unable to request a fan after basically being told the wedding was their priority. We had paid half board so went off to dinner where there were tables with half eaten food around us and cupboard doors hanging open, to then be told, the meal I'd ordered had just run out.......on a menu of about 6 items. It was at this point, my husband jumped online and booked us in at IHG Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth and we checked out, not even being asked why."
