Loved the grandeur and nostalgia of this old hotel. Could use a little loving though. Staff was super nice and helpful (except the night manager who would not let us use the lobby washroom). BART entrance right outside door — very convenient. But hotel located near Tenderloin district which gets seedy at night (during the day fine!) Otherwise, central location great for excursions to different parts of the city.
"Nice small hotel near Union Square and Moscone Ctr"
This hotel is strategically located within a short walking distance from the Moscone Convention Center, Union Square, great shopping, BART and the trolley cars.
This is NOT the place to come with the family. Instead, this is the place for a single traveler looking for a place a stay while in the City. There is no need to rent a car. Just take BART to the Powell Station, get out and walk 1/2 block. You can always get a taxi or just wait in line for the trolley car for a fun ride to the Wharf.
Parking in this area is horribly expensive (up to $54/night) so it's worth it to take public transportation.
Great shopping (Westfield Mall is amazing), Union Square shopping, movie theater, etc. are all there.
The rooms are very small so if you can get past that, remember that this is just a place to stay while you venture around the City. If you think of this place like a B&B, you'll be just fine. To save some $$, I stayed in a small room with a sink, bed and TV and shared a bathroom and shower. It is shared between 4-6 rooms (if they're rented). I didn't have any trouble and it was worth the minor inconvenience.
San Francisco is a very expensive place to stay so look at all options and see what works for you. In my case, what worked for me would NOT work if I had brought my spouse.
Perfect location. Walk-able to many points of interest, and convenient to public transportation.
Nice view from 19th floor.
Very comfortable beds & pillows.
Oddly enough, the cupboard for the in-room mini fridge was empty, & if you wanted one you had to request one from housekeeping.
We did request extra hangers 2x, but they were never supplied.
A couple hiccups at first with a room that smelled terribly of mildew. Cool vibe in the hotel, but the beautiful bar should be open during the day. The finishes are starting to show some wear, with seams coming apart in the carpet in our room and lobby floor needing to be refinished. Also lack of late check out was lame. Overall a great location and nice place to stay but it did not reach its awesome potential. Had a nice time in the hotel restaurant.

Hotel Zetta San Francisco, in San Franciscos fashionable SOMA district, is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway and …More
"Great hotel in the middle of the shopping district"
If you are first time visitors to San Francisco and don't know the map, this hotel is in the best area close but not to close to Union Square. This is where everything happens.
You can easily and nearby get on a tube, a cable car and a bus. You are in the shopping district. You have 10 blocks to the Chinese district and 15 to the North Beach (Italian district).
The hotel is 5 stars. Period. The staff is super friendly and helpful - from the doorman who greats you every time you enter, the concierge to the reception.
Clean, clean, clean rooms and you have access to the great gym and an Olympic size pool (we didn't use this since we were too busy).
I will recommend this hotel anytime and go back again.
We booked this through Expedia and got a good rate. Internet was working 100% and was free of charge as well as a daily newspaper of your choice.
In the Yerba Buena cultural district, two blocks from Union Square, the Financial District, the Moscone Convention Center and …More
Its in the gritty part of the city ... I was well aware of that ... so close to my event and im not afraid to interact with the 1/10 of the bottom 1% ... would I have booked my mom here ... hell no ... but I loved it ... do your research ...
was an awesome deal for Folsom street fair ...
its an SRO hotel ... and the room I was in was clean, had a refer, microwave and a new bed that was verg comfortable ... was more than I thought I was going to get forthe price ... :@)
Good clean room. Quite small though and expensive for what you get (but on the cheaper side for central San Francisco). Staff very friendly and helpful. Free internet was fast enough to stream Netflix.
Located right on Market at Montgomery, we took BART from SFO airport, got off at the Montgomery stop and walked up the stairs to the hotel, super convenient. We were in town for a Giants game and were able to easily walk to AT&T Park. The Ferry Building is a short walk away, as well. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfy and the pool is pretty amazing. We will definitely stay here again.
Very clean yet typical motor inn. Rooms on 2 levels with outside access. I was out the door and to all the buses in 7 minutes on foot. Micro, fridge, cable, wifi, great air/heat. Nothing lacking. This place was a perfect "home base" for this on foot tourist. SOMA is a very mixed area. Young techies paying $6,000 a month for old 1 bedroom apts. yet lots of homeless on the streets. But don't be put off by that. I never felt threatened, day or night. I found interesting little cafes and shops nearby. And the trendiest dance clubs and nice alternative/punk/metal club/cafe, 3 blocks away. Ethnic food trucks at night and homeless grilling chicken and chops on makeshift grills on the street corner for a couple bucks. Delicious! Artsy little coffee shops. A true San Francisco experience.
