"Lovely room but restaurant service is slow. Lots of time when there was no one in the restaurant. At breakfast we sat down on our own accord as there was no one around,after what seemed like a long time, I got us the menus and eventually someone came to take the order. They need more staff and better trained staff."

"A charming and characterful property. Very impressed with the overall experience. Rooms were spacious and facilities were good. Slightly thin walls in the bathroom (could hear the neighbouring guest toileting). Pleasant staff. Exceptional food (dinner menu was excellent). Breakfast catered for in the early hours which was appreciated. Would most certainly return. "

Breakfast (full English) was cooked on demand with self service for toast,cereals and juices,teas and coffees. For a Public House with accommodation to provide this level of service shows dedication to the hospitality sector. "

"Our experience at retreat Elcot Park has been excellent. The service standards are comparable to a 5 stars hotel and each and every member of the staff is adequately trained, polite, pleasant and efficient. The hotel proposes a wide range of activities, often with complementary services. Hike, tours, tennis court, spa. No overcharge to borrow the tennis rackets or to borrow boots to do a beautiful hike in the area and even complementary snacks ! Both restaurants were delicious and the 1775...

"This hotel is a pub with rooms above. It is a period building so has it's quirks but that adds to it's charm. Our room was spacious & bathroom was very clean. Other furnishings a little tired & electrics need updating as extension leads with multiple sockets pose a safety issue. Food was excellent & staff were amazing. Definitely would stay again as in a great location in town. "
