Location of the AC in the bedroom bothered us since it was installed above the bed with fans pointing towards the bed and it was not possible to redirect the orientation of the fans. We had to run it before bedtime to air the room and then turn it off since it was too loud and cold but then room may get little stuffy. They charge $20 amenities fee which we never heard of in any of our stays in CA. This included breakfast which had tea, coffee and croissants and muffins which were not very fresh but edible. We rather have breakfast not included and not pay for it and choose what to eat ourselves rather than eating the same thing every morning. Staff was very nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Plus, we feel safe in this neighbourhood. We love the atmosphere at Union Square, and BART is close by for our trips out to the suburbs. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Our room was nice and clean, and our room requests were met 100%. We have stayed at the Handlery many times over the years, and will stay here again! Thank you!"
