"Unfortunately the hotel hadn’t got our booking from hotels.com but we’re able to accommodate us and upgraded us for the inconvenience. Really friendly staff. Not the most up to date decor but very clean and comfortable. Would stay again"

The location of the property is idyllic and the views are beautiful. The property itself is stunning, it’s equipped with everything you need and the hot tub makes the stay just that little extra special. The downstairs bedroom, with en-suite was perfect for my elderly Dad and saved him using the stairs. We would love to stay again in the summer which would give us the opportunity to have some bbq’s and entertain outside.
Next time we visit we’ll make sure we take more carrots for the two lovely Shetland ponies who were very cute!"

"We were warmly welcomed at the Kings Arms hotel and the welcome persisted throughout our two-night stay. Our room was cosy and clean. The one aspect of the stay that we felt could be improved, however, is the mattress quality. Perhaps mattress toppers would help prevent the springs in the mattress from poking people.
Castle Douglas was not what we had hoped for, but the Kings Arms hotel made up for it. After visiting Dumfries, where we found even the major tourist attractions closed (Sunday and Monday) we spent much of our one full day in the Borders enjoying our room, reading and watching TV.
We had one dinner and two cooked breakfasts at the hotel. The young waiter who served us twice was most impressive. He was polite, attentive and we noted that he did not wait to be told by his superiors to wipe tables or do odd jobs around the restaurant whilst not actively serving. He is an asset."
