As the weather was not favourable, the outside areas were not used. The area does not have a lot to do in bad weather, particularly if you have a dog with you. The lodge was nice but is quite far from anything of interest. If you had good weather and just wanted to explore the local countryside and nearby coast it would probably be great. We got full check-in info while already on holiday the previous week. It mentioned we needed to bring our own “pot towel” and towels. We had towels but not a tea towel, so we bought one before arriving. There were actually 3 in the property. ##### Mark W. It was our first family vacation. We spent almost 3 weeks in the lodge, along with our 21-month-old daughter and our dog. The lodge is very clean and well-equipped. It is beautifully situated in a small, peaceful cluster of holiday homes, right on the border of fields and the forest. We were regularly greeted in the morning by cows, who would stretch their heads over the fence into the garden to welcome us. The lodge is nestled in the heart of nature, yet very well connected to the nearby town of Dumfries, offering a fantastic starting point for a multitude of activities. The owner provides a whole basket of brochures, but it's also worth inquiring about current events at the tourist information in Dumfries. There's plenty to do for children. The Mabie Farm Park is less than 2 miles away, and our daughter absolutely loved it. Furthermore, everyone there is extremely dog-friendly, which touched us deeply and was truly heartwarming. The lodge was immaculate, lovely bathroom and super comfy beds! The kitchen had everything we needed and we felt like we had lots of space for 4 adults. The lodge was so close to lovely places to visit including Kippford and Southerness. Thank you would recommend this lodge and look forward to returning! ##### fiona s.
