Breakfast was very good, much better than other Champneys hotels we have stayed at. Room was nice but the TV unfortunately kept cutting out. Really friendly and helpful staff, and a luxury feel.

The staff service was exceptional at this hotel, the friendly and attentiveness of the employees really made this a wonderful break away. The room was ideal in a pet friendly room it was not luxurious but adequate and suited our visit. The food was wonderful and we felt treated from arriving to departure. I would recommend this hotel it can not be faltering delivery.

Generally a nice place to to stay. The evening meal was excellent, but unfortunately that was not the same for breakfast, most definitely the "worst" full english breakfast i have ever had, dont know how they had the audacity to serve it up!!!
Will not be returning.

We booked a 2 night stay here to celebrate my wife's birthday , we wanted a relaxing weekend and the white horse seemed to offer what we were looking for . Right from check-in i realised we had definitely picked the right place . We received a warm and friendly welcome and were shown to our room . We picked a junior suit and there was nothing junior about it. We found it big , bright and offered everything we wanted . Very clean and well presented.

The best areas to stay in Peak Forest are around the village centre itself or in the nearby village of Castleton.
The village centre of Peak Forest offers a very quiet and rural experience. It's a small, spread-out village without a bustling high street, but it provides easy access to the surrounding Peak District National Park. This area is ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat with direct access to walking trails and stunning natural scenery.
Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the quiet charm of Peak Forest's immediate surroundings appealing. You'll find a selection of charming guesthouses and self-catering cottages, superb for enjoying the countryside. It's an excellent base for exploring the local hiking routes like those leading to Mam Tor or Winnats Pass.
For families, the nearby village of Castleton is an excellent choice. It's a larger village with more amenities, including several pubs, cafes, and local shops, all concentrated around its main street. Castleton is famous for its show caves, like Peak Cavern and Speedwell Cavern, which are popular attractions for all ages. There's also Peveril Castle, a historic ruin offering great views and a sense of adventure for younger explorers.
When is the best time to go to Peak Forest?
The best time to go to Peak Forest is during the late spring, summer, and early autumn months, specifically from May to October, for the most enjoyable weather and outdoor activities.
During these months, the weather is generally milder, with longer daylight hours, making it ideal for exploring the Peak District's stunning landscapes. You'll find the walking trails, cycling routes, and outdoor attractions like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall at their most accessible and pleasant.
Families often find the summer holidays (July and August) particularly good, as the warmer temperatures are great for picnics, exploring caves like Poole's Cavern, and enjoying the various family-friendly events that take place across the region. The longer days mean more time for adventure before sunset.
Couples looking for a romantic escape might prefer May, June, September, or October. These months offer pleasant weather for scenic drives and walks, but with fewer crowds than the peak summer period.
