"Walworth castle exceeded our expectations. From start to finish it was fantastic and our daughter enjoyed her birthday stay. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was great with lots of choice. The castle itself is beautiful and the grounds are all very well maintained. The dungeon and play park was a hit with our girls and they’re still talking about it a week later. Our only regret was staying for just one night! A little happy birthday message left in the room for our daughter was a nice touch, thank you!"

"The staff at this lovely hotel were lovely and friendly. The room was spacious, Clean and modern and loved it. The swimming pool and amenities were fantastic as well. We ate at the bar which was tasty and enjoyed the bar area for some beverages. We also visited Beamish which was local to this hotel."

"This is a great local pub to stay in, the staff and the other customers made us feel very welcome. Its close to the city center but far enough away to feel like a different place. The rooms are its and all around great place to stay."

"The hotel still looks great from the outside. The bar, lounges and reception looking modern and clean. But the room I had felt dated and in need of a fresh decoration. Wallpaper coming lose on the ceiling. Floorboards lose. Bathroom you could see sealant had been applied many times around the bath to stop leaks. I may be looking at the details to much, but newer hotels you do not see any repair jobs. Breakfast was great as well. Just needs some TLC in some of the bedrooms, to bring back to the high standard you expect from this hotel."

"We booked the cottage and were so glad we did. The photos although good, don’t really do it justice. The bedroom opens out onto a spacious balcony with good quality wooden table and chairs. The view is very serene, as you can see the river. The hot tub is really amazing. It was very clean and we were shown how to use it properly. If anything it was a little hot at 40c. It kept this heat for several hours. Bathroom was beautiful. Living room immaculate. And a 2nd bathroom with toilet and shower. Alison warmly greeted us on arrival and her partner Andrew helped out with showing us the room. They are both extremely friendly, polite, professional and hardworking people. We had one meal in the restaurant. We ordered the halloumi sticks for a starter and they were absolutely divine. My friend had the stew for her main and I had the Yorkshire pie pudding. They were both seasoned well. The meat was tender enough for me and it was plentiful. The Yorkshire pudding didn’t taste like a Yorkshire pudding. Or a pie. It was quite tough and quite tasteless. Which gutted me because it’s one of my favourite things to eat. The prices were reasonable. The wait time for the starter wasn’t bad, at 25mins, but we waited for the main for a long time. About 1.30hrs after ordering. Which is too long to wait, but apologies were made. I suspect this is understaffing. Overall we absolutely loved our stay! We wouldn’t hesitate to come back. It’s set in a beautiful location, which is quiet and pleasant."

"Great location for an overnight. Friendly staff and warm welcome at check in. Breakfast wasn’t as good as I’m used to. Room was tired and pillows need refreshing as they were clumpy and uncomfortable, which impacted on sleep"
