This hotel is in a very nice area of Newcastl plenty of very good restaurants well within walking distance.

Having stayed here before we decided to book again. Hotel is easy to find with free car parking at the rear and Jesmond is a great area with bars, restaurants and cafes and only a short hop on the metro into Newcastle. Hotel reception and bar area clean and welcoming. Twin room was ok apart from leaking shower, which meant water covered bathroom floor after showering and had to use towel soak it up. Breakfast ok but staff should monitor the food more, as some hot food ran out and was then waiting 15 mins for more to be cooked and brought out. Would I stay again - yes - but the hotel just need to ensure the room facilities and basics are done well.

Staff were good. Room was a decent size, clean and with good facilities. The area was a very busy student area. I could hear bass music all Sunday evening in my room which was on second floor. Parking is limited in tight spaces at rear of hotel. Breakfast was or good quality.

A quiet, friendly hotel The decor in the room and especially the bathroom is "tired" and the latter could do with some renovation. Staff were very amenable and helpful especially when the towels in the bathroom had not been replaced by the cleaners. A lovely hearty breakfast although the coffee could be fresher and stronger! We will definitely stay here again. Thank you.

We came with my daughter who is currently recovering from surgery and uses crutches the lift was broken so they upgraded us to a suite on the ground floor it was so nice and comfortable can’t thank them enough

Room was a little tired
The Hotel is okay, it could do with a refresh, lots af chipped paintwork. Our bath was chipped. Perhaps we got a room which is on the list to be refurbished, id like to think so. Reception and bar area were much better and the staff were very good and friendly.

Good for short stays
I stay here when visiting my daughter at uni. Its convenient, staff are friendly & helpful, the beds are comfy (although sheets not duvets), its a little tired in places but its an old building so you got to expect its not ultra-modern. It has all you need for short stays, if a function on, can be a bit noisy but moved rooms and all fine.

Comfortable hotel for Arena show
Very nice in the communal areas, rooms are dated but clean and comfortable - lack of plugs though; great locaton for Metro, nice breakfast and great service throughout

Will definitely come again!
Very friendly hotel. Lovely comfy bed, heaps of pillows (mix of soft and firm). Some areas of hotel seemed a little tired (carpets, walls), but the room was superb - spacious, clean, comfy, complementary tea, coffee, water, biscuits and crisps. Bathrobes and slippers - lovely hot and powerful shower. Free election charging points. Lovely buffet breakfast. Nice touches such as pc with printer in lobby. Cheerful and friendly staff. Will definitely come again!!

Great hotel.
The staff were friendly at reception. Areas are clean and look nice. Room was spacious, clean and at a good temperature. Not too hot to sleep in. Good powerful shower. Brrakfast was good and area lovely and clean. Staff very friendly. The free car park was full so we park a street down from hotel. We told the receptionist and he said that was fine. It was as we had no ticket the next day. All in all we would stay again.

there was no internet service in the room, room was tiny. changed the room but the internet wasn't working at all. during the night it was cold, windows aren't sound proof. not a good experience.

Surprisingly pleasant stay during Freshers week dropping off daughter at uni Great to have added bonus of electric charger which staff kindly booked for us following long journey up from London Would have got excellent if it hadn't been for the sweet wrappers under the bed from last occupants and the peeling walls behind curtains but staff made up for any minor niggles Good breakfast too so all in all a very reasonable stay close to many amenities

Overall: disappointing
Disappointing. The parking was very cramped and full on the second evening so we had to park in the street. We booked a suite and I expected two rooms, but in reality it was one large rook with a sofa in it. The door to the room and the door to the bathroom both stuck and were difficult to close, and the room was on the ground floor with several pubs and restaurants opposite, which were noisy into the night, making it difficult to sleep. One of the lights had a blown bulb and we mentioned it to reception, but it was not fixed while we were there. The restaurant was more like a bar than a restaurant, but the food was excellent and the waiting staff could not be more helpful. We also thought we booked with breakfast included, but were charged another 12 pounds each for breakfast, but I suspect this was a hotels.com booking issue.

Great hotel reasonable price. Very happy
Unfortunately due to loss in family we had to find a hotel near newcastle and gosforth. All the others had issues with parking so took a risk and booked this for our family. Very happy with the result. Lovely hotel very comfy. Bar and food was very reasonable and good food. Will deffinatly book back in here again when visiting for work.

Great for a night out in Jesmond Arrived just after 2.15, managed to get a parking space at side of conference centre Reception checked me in early and said I could move car to rear of hotel as there were plenty of spaces. Took stuff to room - went back to car and moved to find 1space remaining... could've just left it where it was. Room was far better than I was expecting lovely small double, quality bedding and two large & fluffy bath sheets, note with offer of robe/slippers - I didn't order these 2 bottles of water, bag of crisps, 2 packs of biscuits loads of tea & coffee; midnight snack and morning coffee sorted Bathroom was large and light - clean apart from tight gap between unit and shower screen at end of bath. Reported to reception, didn't get the impression anything would be done about. There was a wedding at hotel - music really loud till around midnight - still got a great night sleep. Didn't stay for breakfast

Just Ok stay with room to improve standards.
Nice looking hotel with a lot of potential, however few things could be improved - cleanliness of the room/bathroom quite poor, glasses and cutlery in the restaurant also quite poor(still old lipstick on the glass) We have booked breakfast for 930, had to wait for the table quite a while(which is not a problem by all means) however once we have been given a table it was not ready, nothing on it, had to go to get myself all cutlery, cups etc. Run out of bacon, eggs, coffee, no honey... Eventually they brought 5 eggs! 😆 For full restaurant of people... So you could see a total lack of organisation as why to take bookings if you cannot prepare enough food? Summarising: comfortable beds, great location, once we got the food it was delicious, good selection of drinks but let down by cleanliness. So overall just OK, but it has got loads of potential only if managed a little bit better.

Great Place
First time at The Caledonian and it won’t be the last. Excellent check in, very friendly. Lovely room, felt very homely. Lovely touches with the bed linen and towels.

Pleasant hotel with friendly staff. The hotel has a nice atmosphere. The hair drier did work and the tv reception was poor so could benefit for some checks in the room.
