very clean and comfortable, great breakfast and friendly owners
Great little village pub, currently undergoing upgrading. Room was comfortable, quiet, clean and warm. Food and service was exceptional - will be staying again.
We had a large room which was very comfortable with good facilities.
The bed was comfortable although there could have been more pillows and the pillows that were there were hard. There was a coffee machine which didn't work and i would have preferred a kettle in the room. I would have liked a better lock on the door. The room was stuffy and i thought it was ...
Superb location for a visit to Stoneleigh. Friendly check in staff and great food and drink at the bar. Extremely good value for money.
Nice bedroom, tiny bathroom, friendly staff
Room was excellent, staff were polite and attentive. Breakfast was very good Drinks were overly expensive, only one person on desk when checking out
One of Britain's best-preserved medieval landmarks, Kenilworth Castle is a sight to behold at any time of year, and is the perfect day out for families, couples and groups of friends alike. It’s within driving distance of several hotels catering to all budgets, and has good transport links to the rest of the country via nearby Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa railway stations, and the M40.
Originally a medieval fortress, Kenilworth Castle was transformed into a majestic palace by the Elizabethan period, although it was originally an important military defence, subject to numerous attacks during the notorious Siege of Kenilworth in 1266. It opened to visitors by the late Georgian period, and has been carefully managed by English Heritage since the 1980s.
Take a relaxing stroll around the enchanting Elizabethan Gardens, explore the fascinating Leicester's Gatehouse and see the beautifully restored Great Hall that has hosted many monarchs over the years. Enjoy afternoon tea and cakes at the Stables Tearoom, buy some souvenirs at the charming gift shop, and don't forget to visit the large Castle Keep that was used for entertaining royalty as far back as the 16th Century.
The castle organises many fantastic events throughout the year, from a special Easter Adventure Quest, to a children-themed Knights and Princess Academy and a Photography Workshop.
If you're looking to base yourself in a hotel that's also full of rustic historic charm, consider the deluxe four star Woodland Grange near the outskirts of Royal Leamington Spa, which provides spacious, immaculately presented accommodation with free WiFi and luxury beds. Another popular hotel in the vicinity is the charismatic Episode Hotel, which is also in Royal Leamington Spa and provides sophisticated, spacious rooms with free WiFi.
