"Beautiful escape"
So disappointed we were only booked for one night. we were made so welcome and it was very much like home from home. everything was perfect and would definitely recommend. you do need to drive as the hotel is quite secluded but please dont let that put you off.

"High privilege!"
The staff of the Old Course Hotel redefines graciousness for a guest. I got the impression that there was nothing I could ask for that would be denied. Everyone was so welcoming, helpful and engaging such that we felt very privileged to join others at this Hotel and enjoy the ambiance and tradition of the home of golf.

"worth a try"
The house is in a quiet romantic setting. The staff were amazing, very friendly and professional. Lots of extra little touches like fresh baked cookies in the room. The shower was not great and plastic shower curtains made the room a little less luxurious . However in saying this for the price its worth every penny. The food is amazing and presented wonderfully. Defo give this one a try. Value for money and I would be delighted to return.

"Crossroads or Pleasant Surprise?"
My first impression - building, reception décor, etc - was that this is the real life version of Crossroads (1970/80s TV soap)! But pleased to say it was better than that. Our room (Deluxe) was spacious and well equipped; restaurant food very good; garden pretty and well tendered; staff pleasant and efficient (and not a Benny in sight!). There was a group of 50+ French tourists arriving, staying and eating in restaurant whilst we were there: all the staff appeared to cope with group of this size very effectively and not let them overwhelm other guests - the Restaurant Manager had the courtesy to let us know they would be in restaurant en masse before we ordered our meal and ensured other guests had separate space. Overall a pleasant stay and far better than our first impression (hotel would do well to update reception area/corridors/etc and get rid of all the cheap black MDV).

Best part was its location. Tucked back in a residential area, so it was quiet and spacious feeling. Hotel is a bit worn about the edges but well worth it's price.

See how you measure up against the golfing legends of the past and present before indulging in some delicious local produce and a local beer or two at one of the town’s fine restaurants.

    Castles Galore

Nearby lie the medieval ruins of St. Andrews Castle. This intriguing castle has been a fortress, palace and state prison in its time, complete with sixteenth century siege mine and the formidable ‘bottle dungeon’ hewn out of the rock - rumoured to have imprisoned John Knox at one time.

The ruins of Ravenscraig Castle are also well worth a look, before making your way to Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery, a real cultural hub which is home to works by William McTaggat, Scottish Colourist S. J. Peploe and Kirkcaldy artist Jack Vettriano.
