"Good stay in Edinburgh"
Stayed for two nights at the start of a driving holiday through Scotland. Good base as transport by bus in to the centre of Edinburgh was right outside the hotel and so reasonable at £4.00 for a day ticket. Much better than driving in and the expense of parking. Hotel had good facilities, but we not equipped to partake of them. We did not eat in the hotel, so cannot comment. Free Car parking a big bonus, even if spaces not always either easy to find or near where you might want to be.

"Great setting but outdated and expensive."
Lovely spacious suite but furniture needs updating and bath too small. Beautiful scenery across golf course to beach. Restaurant very pricey. Do not request a well done steak it was like eating charcoal. £34.00 for a bottle of Rioja which would retail in the supermarket for £9.00 was very excessive.. Staff were polite, friendly, and helpful.

"Top quality pub hotel beside the railway station"
Very helpful and friendly staff, even when very busy. Unusual "blank check" bistro breakfast arrangements, and excellent quality. Could not be more convenient for access to trains and the centre of town. My en suite room was clean and pleasant enough, but the big downers were: totally inadequate lighting - not enough to read or see a keyboard; no desk or table on which to place a laptop, papers or to write; loud air-conditioning noise most of the night; poor and intermittent wireless internet connection.

"Wonderful hotel, nicely located"
Nicely located but had a neighborhood feel. I felt like we were staying in a contemporary Edinburgh flat. If you want outdoor space ask for a garden level apartment. We had a beautiful garden out our back door.

Pocket Guide: Adventure Sport Hotels in Edinburgh

Staying in Edinburgh isn’t just about sightseeing (unless you want it to be - of course). There is more to this famous city than meets the eye. With Scotland’s 'Golf Coast' on the doorstep in East Lothian and a variety of offbeat adventures to be had within the city you might be surprised by what’s on offer. Booking your perfect accommodation is easy with Expedia.

    Adventurous Activities in Edinburgh

While it’s unlikely you will be abseiling down Edinburgh Castle anytime soon, Edinburgh has a vibrant climbing community. There are impressive indoor climbing centres in Granton and Ratho - the latter is the largest indoor climbing wall in the world! The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena also boasts Europe’s largest suspended aerial adventure rope course.

No trip to Edinburgh would be complete without a game of paintball. OK that’s not true, but it’s there if you want it. Head to the indoor centre on Leith Walk or the outdoor area just outside the city in South Queensferry for some colourful simulated combat.

The city is also within easy reach of the Pentland Hills, making it a great place for hikers and runners to base themselves. Hillend Dry Ski Slope is a handy place for skiers.
