"Spacious apartment, lift not working, top floor!!"
14 flights of stairs with cases was exhausting. Took a while to work out how to get hot water but good apparent otherwise.

"Great hotel"
Beautiful building in a beautiful setting surrounded by two golf courses that I would have liked to play if that was part of our vacation plans. Will have to come back. Friendly staff although the casual Brasserie restaurant could improve a bit. If you have a car available it does not take too long to get into downtown Edinburgh.

"On the beach"
A very unique beach and golf field side hotel. Vintage design and classic decor. Reasonable size room and very delicious breakfast. The only thing that was annoying is that the room was really hot while the weather outside was 12c. So we ordered a fan. The other thing is the swimming pool area was full of parents with their children and it's not big enough to share and enjoy it.

"3 days stay Aug"
Stayed here for 3 days at the Fringe. Right next to Linlithgow station, only 15 mins into the city. Hotel is right next to station, but train noise was insignificant. Enjoyed my breakfast in the bistro

"Lovely hotel and nice facilities"
Stayed in a executive double room and was very pleasant....the breakfast was great...only criticism was we had a meal in the evening and for 2 courses we sat at the table for nearly 2 1/2 hrs.

"Convenient to airport"
We stayed there our last night in Edinburgh. The hotel is very quaint but a couple of the rooms are inaccessible for people with disabilities; steep spiral staircases. Jason, the night manager, was most helpful in getting us an accessible room, though the bed was lumpy. There is no on-site parking and street parking has restrictions: parking in front of hotel on Monday nite was ok from 7:30 pm - 7:30 am. The rooms were large and very clean. Bar and breakfast area were quite nice. The staff we encountered, Jason and Gabriella were the BEST.

"Great place to stay!"
Not a hotel, not a B&B; rather, staying here is like having an amazing, very large apartment in a great part of town. The accommodations are first class, spacious, clean, modern and very well-appointed, verging on luxurious; yet, the price was quite reasonable. We had a separate living room, with a dining area and a kitchen, a guest bathroom, and a separate bedroom with a closet and an adjacent, large bathroom. The staff is friendly and helpful, but discreet and essentially unnoticed unless you seek interaction. We did not avail ourselves of the room service, because there is so much good food out there In Edinburgh, but I imagine, based on the attention provided to everything else, that the food would have been just fine. The location is great, in a peaceful, quiet, and lovely residential neighborhood filled with beautiful Georgian buildings, and numerous places to eat and drink, and it's an easy ten minute walk to the intersection of Princes Street and Lothian Road. If you like to walk, you can be at the Castle and its surroundings within 25 to 30 minutes. We highly recommend!

Pocket Guide: Adventure Sport Hotels in Edinburgh

Staying in Edinburgh isn’t just about sightseeing (unless you want it to be - of course). There is more to this famous city than meets the eye. With Scotland’s 'Golf Coast' on the doorstep in East Lothian and a variety of offbeat adventures to be had within the city you might be surprised by what’s on offer. Booking your perfect accommodation is easy with Expedia.

    Adventurous Activities in Edinburgh

While it’s unlikely you will be abseiling down Edinburgh Castle anytime soon, Edinburgh has a vibrant climbing community. There are impressive indoor climbing centres in Granton and Ratho - the latter is the largest indoor climbing wall in the world! The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena also boasts Europe’s largest suspended aerial adventure rope course.

No trip to Edinburgh would be complete without a game of paintball. OK that’s not true, but it’s there if you want it. Head to the indoor centre on Leith Walk or the outdoor area just outside the city in South Queensferry for some colourful simulated combat.

The city is also within easy reach of the Pentland Hills, making it a great place for hikers and runners to base themselves. Hillend Dry Ski Slope is a handy place for skiers.
