"Fantastic hotel close to Edinburgh "
Had two lovely days relaxing in the very peaceful atmosphere of this hotel. Love the walk to portobello via the seafront 2 mins from hotel. Bus stop for Edinburgh or Musselburgh etc just outside the door. Room was clean, comfortable with modern bathroom and huge bed which was so comfy. Leasure facilities have just been modernised to a high standard. We have been coming here for yrs and can't fault anything so far. You won't be disappointed!

"Great place 20ms from the city "
Came got Hogmanay and had a brilliant time. It's only 20ms from the city and handy if you want some chillout time and space away. Would definitely com a gain. Only thing is the rooms are sooo hot we had to leave the windows open but then you'd get the noise from deliveries or the car park but overall very good

"Good hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh."
Good room with nice view. Only bad point was noise, on the first night below the room a loud xmas party went on until late and then in the morning loud drilling from the room next to us started at 8ish. If it wasn't for the noise would have been great.

Immediate and friendly welcome from extremely helpful staff.Checking in was quick and painless. The room was fresh, clean and comfortable although a little smaller than expected. The bathroom was clean and tidy, no bath but lovely double shower and everything else you need. The bar was welcoming and the service was excellent. Great location, easy walking distance from everything and always a hearty welcome when you returned.

"A conundrum."
A warm welcome from Gavin into a very warm hotel. The overall temperature was far higher than necessary and our bedroom was stifling - for some reason the thermostats were on maximum? That said it is a most relaxing environment and run very professionally with very unobtrusive service. The rooms are spotless and, apart from the lack of in room tea/coffee making facilities, nearly everything has been thought of and provided. Overall the Hotel exudes an air of tranquility. To us the puzzle was the food - having the name Roux associated to it we expected a much more exciting and interesting dinner menu. The menu had a very limited choice and although the meal was well presented it lacked that 'little something' to make it stand out - slightly disappointing. The breakfast offering was poor with a very limited range of fruit - a few very large poached pears, a bowl of prunes and some apricots in juice appeared to be the extent of it. The cooked element was poor with a huge sausage and a 'fried' egg looking as though it had been left warming for ages rather than being freshly fried! The servers are very attentive although keep a discreet distance, which is a big plus point throughout the Hotel.

"Well equipped apartment in convenient location "
A friend and I booked this for a short break as it offers such good value for money. We had our own bedroom and bathroom for half the price of a hotel, but with more facilities. We chose to eat out but could easily have self catered as there is everything you need in the apartment. Tea,coffee and milk is provided. Nice complimentary White Company toiletries.

"Modern and Spacious"
We were only staying for one night but the apartments are very clean and modern with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. Good views over the port of Leith and over the Firth of Forth too. We will be going back for a longer stay soon!

Pocket Guide: Adventure Sport Hotels in Edinburgh

Staying in Edinburgh isn’t just about sightseeing (unless you want it to be - of course). There is more to this famous city than meets the eye. With Scotland’s 'Golf Coast' on the doorstep in East Lothian and a variety of offbeat adventures to be had within the city you might be surprised by what’s on offer. Booking your perfect accommodation is easy with Expedia.

    Adventurous Activities in Edinburgh

While it’s unlikely you will be abseiling down Edinburgh Castle anytime soon, Edinburgh has a vibrant climbing community. There are impressive indoor climbing centres in Granton and Ratho - the latter is the largest indoor climbing wall in the world! The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena also boasts Europe’s largest suspended aerial adventure rope course.

No trip to Edinburgh would be complete without a game of paintball. OK that’s not true, but it’s there if you want it. Head to the indoor centre on Leith Walk or the outdoor area just outside the city in South Queensferry for some colourful simulated combat.

The city is also within easy reach of the Pentland Hills, making it a great place for hikers and runners to base themselves. Hillend Dry Ski Slope is a handy place for skiers.
