Restaurant staff were to be desired no clearing your plates of tables running out of water and bread had to wait breakfast not hot reception ordered papers got it wrong over 3days we were there disappointed over all staff need training
We stayed here on our last day in the area because we had a very early flight. It was an easy drive to the airport but more than that we loved the hotel and the staff were very accommodating...they had breakfast bagged for us on our way out at 4:15am. The grounds are beautiful and if you play golf ...
The location is excellent - just across from Waverly Station and by the Royal Mile. We loved that the hotel has been updated yet retained historic charm. Our room overlooked the train terminal and Princes Street. We booked with the option that included breakfast.
You'd usually expect to have to make compromises for a hotel this well located within easy walking distance of the centre of town, but I'm struggling to find any complaints. The double room was large as advertised; facilities (incl. gym) were excellent for a short stay; and staff were top notch. ...
Very friendly staff at check in, room was fabulous, just wish the spa/pool wasn't open later so that we could go for a relaxing dip after a long day of being active tourists!
Hotel is within walking distance from the train. I would say it is about a 10 minute walk maybe less. So no need to take a cab from the train station unless you just don't like walking. The hotel is within walking distance of everything.
Staying in Edinburgh isn’t just about sightseeing (unless you want it to be - of course). There is more to this famous city than meets the eye. With Scotland’s 'Golf Coast' on the doorstep in East Lothian and a variety of offbeat adventures to be had within the city you might be surprised by what’s on offer. Booking your perfect accommodation is easy with Expedia.
While it’s unlikely you will be abseiling down Edinburgh Castle anytime soon, Edinburgh has a vibrant climbing community. There are impressive indoor climbing centres in Granton and Ratho - the latter is the largest indoor climbing wall in the world! The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena also boasts Europe’s largest suspended aerial adventure rope course.
No trip to Edinburgh would be complete without a game of paintball. OK that’s not true, but it’s there if you want it. Head to the indoor centre on Leith Walk or the outdoor area just outside the city in South Queensferry for some colourful simulated combat.
The city is also within easy reach of the Pentland Hills, making it a great place for hikers and runners to base themselves. Hillend Dry Ski Slope is a handy place for skiers.
