"We absolutely loved the house. We were a large group with two families: 4 adults & 3 kids total. There was plenty of space, we were quite comfortable, & the outdoor areas were a paradise for families with kids. We spent almost all our time outside. The yard was absolutely huge, & securely fenced, the kids loved the pool, & there was a lovely table under an ivy covered pergola for meals al fresco. The owners live on the property, but you don’t even notice. When we did talk to them, they were wonderful & so very kind. Barga is such a charming town, & you’re surrounded by gorgeous mountains. The old city center is blocked off to traffic, & while it’s actually pretty small, it doesn’t feel like it at first; we loved getting lost in the labyrinth of hilly streets & mysterious staircases that wind out of sight. We didn’t consider it close enough to walk to, especially with kids, but it was a quick few minute drive to central parking lots on the outskirts & you walk in. We originally thought it would be a great base for visiting surrounding areas, but frankly we found driving through the mountains terrifying. We took day trips to Pisa & Lucca, & the Grotta del Vento, & that was all the driving we could stomach. But it was about 6 degrees C cooler up in the mountains, so it was a good trade off in July. And no giant crush of tourists. It was a magical week, & the highlight of our trip. 10/10 recommend."

"Fabulous place to stay for a peaceful time in beautiful Tuscany. The pool area was amazing and the views stunning. The eating area was lovely also with fabulous views. The properties were well equipped and the tortoises and donkeys were a hit. Barga is just down the road and is delightful with lots of bars and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will miss the peace and tranquility - thank you to our host Simonetta."

"After spending 9 fun but hectic days in Rome and Venice, this was a great place to wind down and have some quiet time for our family of 4. The pool was a major draw for us and it was heavenly. It was a record heat wave when we were there but even without air conditioning the cottage stayed relatively cool. Amedeo and his family were friendly, accessible, and responsive while also giving us our privacy. Barga is a wonderful town and we were lucky to be there for their annual Piazzarelle festival so that music could be heard from the cottage each night. The area is hilly and there are some great hiking trails around so you'll want to be ready for some climbing... A skill you'll also need for the tight spiral staircase :) As many have said, the driveway is a challenge but any half decent car can handle it and you do get used to it. If you're not very comfortable with a manual transmission, though, you may want to try to get an automatic. Considering how secluded the cottage is, it is amazing that water and electricity are not an issue. The fact that it also has a washer, dishwasher, microwave, etc, is also impressive. It would be nice if there were more cooking tools and basic staples in the kitchen and the stove/oven could use some care but these are minor issues that certainly did not affect our overall enjoyment of this very sweet little cottage. We loved Il Turello and we recommend it to anyone."

"We honestly cannot stress enough how brilliant the Villa was and how excellent Anne is too. I know everyone has said the photos don’t do it justice, but they really don’t. The place is much bigger than the pictures make out, and a perfect space for people to be together, but also to have their own space. The views are insane too from the pool! The location of Barga is a dream and feels like a hidden gem near Lucca and Pisa. Anne has lots of great recommendations and will help you have a brilliant time. I cannot recommend this location and Villa more! Thanks again for a special time Anne."
