Paradise!
We had a marvelous stay at Las Palapas. It is a beautiful property in a spectacular location. There is a small, private beach right next to the property and a safe area for snorkeling right in front of the house. We were there for our 50th wedding anniversary with our whole family of 13, including 5 children. This fabulous place was perfect for all ages. The kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling equipment were fabulous to have and so easy to use. There are tennis courts and a pickle ball court nearby. Walking from the house in the Chacala Marina area is beautiful. The staff was exceptional -- lovely people and superb cooks. It was the most relaxing vacation we've ever had and we are so grateful to Bert for having created this marvelous place.

Beautiful beachfront vacation
Las Palapas was an amazing home with helpful kind staff. Photos of the property looked great, but it is even better in person. Wonderful private spaces for sleeping and great large places to gather and to eat together. We had dinner in town one evening, but all other meals were prepared by Sandra and the rest of the staff--food was always delicious--better than eating out. The staff kept the house spotless. Nidia, the house manager was always ready to help and answer any questions. We did two boat trips with Juan, seeing humpback whales one day (amazing!!) and snorkeling another day which was also great. Transportation to/from the airport, arranged through Juan was easy. Chacala is at least 1 1/2 hours from Puerto Vallarta airport. It is a tiny town, so no night life or shopping--however, Las Palapas has all you need. The food, house and property, beach, swimming pool and hot tub were all great. Everyone in our group had wonderful time. Amazing indoor/outdoor living. As long as you don't need the hustle and bustle of town, you will love this place!

Beautiful place to stay, great and private property and amenities. Reliable service. Good was amazing, receptive to discussion. Just make sure to figure out exact check in - no way to leave bags at property early and there is a 1h time difference between airport and location, so when I organized to come a bit earlier (which they were flexible with!) I was an hour early on my estimate. Drivers were nice enough to stick around with out bags

Fantastic experience! Wonderful food, ideal location. Pool, hot tub steps from the rooms. Dine in the house or outside. Pickleball courts a short walk away. Small town just a few minutes walk, but you have all you need on the property. Highly recommended.

We were there with family including children. Beautiful property with so much to do including just hanging out by the pool. The food and staff were wonderful! Juan guided several fishing trips and we had great success! Highly recommend it for family or friend gatherings.

The Most Relaxing Vacation ... Ever
Las Palapas is an oasis and perfect setting for a relaxing vacation with family and dear friends. We were 11 in total, including a 2-year-old. Adult ages ranged from 35 to 73. Having the main house and 2 casitas, each with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, gave us the space to spread out if we needed private time, and community spaces to relax and party. The food was exceptional, and included breakfast, lunch, happy hour with drinks and appetizers, and dinner. Having the cleaning services every day, also made it more like a spa. Juan was available the entire time to drive us around, including to Sayulita and the airport, as well as taking us on his boat for snorkeling. All agreed that Las Palapas will be our go-to place in Mexico!

Family Dream Trip
Las Palapas exceeded our expectations! As a family of 22 (and 12 were children) there was plenty to do and room for all! The staff was amazing! They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! Meals and appetizers were awesome. They even made sushi with the fish the boys caught that day! The home was clean. The pool is wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the beach even finding some hermit crabs. Overall it was a dream come true vacation! Thank you to all that made our stay full of lasting memories!

Las Palapas
This was our second stay at this wonderful property. The beautiful setting and wonderful amenities made it perfect for our multigenerational family gathering. The shady palapa, the extensive yard, sandy volleyball court, pool, access to beach and ocean toys provided venues/activities everyone in the family. The food and accommodations were also first rate. We’ll definitely be back!

Awesome extended family vacation
The pictures due not due it justice, it’s way nicer!! The staff was absolutely wonderful, and catered to all of our needs and then some. We had one child that is allergic to a lot of foods, and they prepared a special meal for him every time and we never had an issue; which is rare! We will definitely be back!

Lovely Spot
We had a family reunion with 18 of us. It was an amazing spot. The staff were great and friendly. So nice to have tasty food prepped for us. Beach was great for kids. Pool was amazing. A nice to walk into Chacala from Las Palapas. We would definitely rent there again.

I have been to this property two times now. I love this property. It’s beautiful, the staff is amazing, food is wonderful, the views and access to the beach from the property is beyond words. This property takes care of everything. They even help you arrange travel to/from PVR airport

Fabulous compound
The staff is wonderful, food delicious, property perfect for 3 or 4 families. There are 2 bedrooms in each outside palapa and 3 in the main house. The only downside is the length of time it takes to get to the property. Traffic can be a problem, but once you get to the property it's a perfect place to stay. This should clear up by the end of 2022 as a new tollroad is being constructed. We only went into the small town of Chacala once as we had everything we needed at the property. There were tons of games, a volleyball court, surfboards, paddle boards, a pool and a spa. There is also access to tennis and pickle ball courts and lots of paths for walking or running. It is very secure with guards vetting anyone entering the area. A few steps away the beautiful beach area has gentle waves and a dedicated area for swimming. This would be the ideal place for a small family reunion or for friends to rent together as it has privacy at each palapa as well as a common area. The owner is quick to answer questions and the staff is amazing. Oh I forgot...the sunsets are perfect!

Las Palapas has it all! It's safe, lots of room, a wonderful staff that make sure everything runs smoothly, and lots of games and toys. We had a group of 24, with some at a house down the road. Communication is best with the manager and staff, not the owner. He's less wonderful.

Beautiful Location and Really Nice Staff
All in all, this is a wonderful location if you want to just spend your time going from pool to beach and then back again. Very remote location with gorgeous scenery. We really loved the food that was prepared for us by Nydia and her very nice staff! The house is very nice but to be honest, could use a little TLC-nothing to ruin your vacation-this is just an fyi. The master ceiling leaked during a rain storm-we just adjusted the location of the bed. The air conditioners work well but do dump a lot of condensation on the floor-which can be a surprise in the night (my grandsons say) and make for a slippery floor. The jacuzzi is starting to show some wear and tear and the pool bar could use a new fridge. The cement floors are very slippery when wet-but the little ones learned quickly not to run! I am not trying to sound nit-picky; as a traveler I just like to be aware of this stuff to set my expectations correctly. Also, the traffic was really bad-which isn't anyone's fault-just a note. We had planned on visiting a few other places but after sitting in traffic for 2 hours on the way to Sayulita, changed our goals. It's not like swimming in the warm Pacific is a terrible choice! So, Bert's house and location are awesome. Still 5 stars but with some minor issues. My family had a great time just hanging out and plenty of room to get away from each other when they wanted alone time.

Thanks for your invaluable feedback! Time to clean those AC codensation hoses. And find/repair that leak. We normally start all the concrete repairs mid June but with the pandemic we had more bookings in June and July than normal. Major tune up will happen August and September (I had to block those months off) Sorry bout the traffic. There are two huge projects going on. One is the new toll road from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta. That should finish some time in 2022. The other project is the expasion of the highway from Las Varas to Sayulita. This project has caused delays. One of my team just told me yesterday that by next week the highway will be closed from 6pm to 6am so they can do all the disruptive stuff at night. So hopefully this will solve the day time traffic problem and accelerate the expansion of the highway from 2 lanes to 4. Again thanks for your feedback! Lets hope shifting road expansion to nighttime works. My team will know by next week.

The most relaxing vacation ever!
The layout of the property, insanely perfect beachfront sunsets from the pool and excellent food plus service all contributed to the most relaxing vacation any of us ever had! I'm personally glad that we kept our group size to 12 and feel like adding two more people could have worked but any more than that and we'd be dancing around each other a bit too much, IMO. But I am not one for crowds which is a big part of why I loved this peaceful location. the boat trips were fun, the paddleboards and snorkels used nearly daily, volleyball in the pool, and having meals served to us 4 times a day was like being at a 5 star resort minus having to jockey for pool chairs! We'll definately be back.

My husband and I shared this wonderful house with our kids, their kids and some friends for 10 beautiful days of perfect sunsets, beach fires, perfect waves, and great food and service. This was our second visit to this property and hopefully not the last. We had originally secured 3 houses in this community for a big family reunion but so many of our family were scared or effected by covid that it didn't happen as we had planned, so maybe there will be another reunion planned in the future when people are not so scared to travel. If we can do this later, this will be the first place I will book, it just doesn't get any better than this!!! Thank you Nyadia and your staff for your great food, beautiful smiles, kindness and friendship. Thanks to Juan, our sweet boat captain and Taxi driver hero when our rental car broke down, he was always there for us when we needed him. This place is Heavenly, quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and I can't wait to return! I've already booked a return trip!! The staff is wonderful, and they were more like friends while they took great care of everything we needed. The sunsets and sunrise get more beautiful every day of the week. We drove into La Cruz to take a day of sailing and spotted Whales and Dolphins sever times during the day. We also took a small boat in Chacala out several days to explore the coast line, relaxing and beautiful. I can't say enough good things about this house, it was perfect!!

Dream Vacation for our Extended Family
We recently returned from Las Palapas where our extended family (10 adults and 8 children) ranging in age from 3-70s stayed. The property and accommodations are exactly how pictured and were perfect for our large group. Unfortunately we had a few days of rain, but this didn't prevent us from enjoying our time. The pool and hot tub are well heated, and the large covered deck areas kept us dry while still being able to enjoy the outdoors. Las Palpas allows you to have the amenities of a resort, but with much more privacy. The staff are amazing and part of why the experience was so enjoyable. Who can complain about a fully stocked kitchen and private chefs! We also enjoyed the beauty of the gated community for safe walking and saw lots of wildlife (sea turtles, whales, crabs, sting rays, etc.) - a highlight for kids! We highly recommend this property and it's worth the trip to get there!

We came to Las Palapas, for a family Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful week. We played volleyball, pool volley ball, kayaked, SUP , did puzzles, played jenga, watched football, went swimming in the ocean, drank ate. We had a mini Olympics and great family bonding time.

Best vacation ever
We spent the week at Las Palapas celebrating a 40th Wedding Anniversary with a dozen friends and family memebers. Every person said what an amazing vacation it was, some said their best vacation ever! Paul, Nydia and the entire staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. Everyone is over the top nice and the food is absolutely delicious. You cannot find a vacation spot this luxurious and beautiful anywhere else in the world. We love it and will most definitely be back! Thank you Las Palapas for a great family vacation.

Beautiful large ocean front estate
We came to Las Palapas with 12 girlfriends for a 60th birthday celebration. We loved the setting at this Chacalla beach property. The two hour drive from the Puerto Vallarta airport is so worth the drive. The home is beautiful with 7 lovely rooms. The staff is very sweet and cooked three meals a day for us. All the activities available at the house fit our group perfectly. We had pool volleyball games, kayak races , paddle board fun, corn hulling games, bonfires on the beach. The bay that the home is situated in is calm and great from swimming and kids. We will be back!

Best vacation of our lives for this group of world travelers
We were a family of 12 adults and 3 small children. All of us have traveled extensively and love adventure. At Las Palapas, we couldn't stand to leave! Tennis, paddle boarding, volleyball - there's plenty to do around the property but the best is simply to rotate from the ocean, hot tub, pool and hammocks and break it up a bit with Nydia's amazing cooking and cocktails. This experience is pure luxury. The photos do not do it justice! If I had to make a small complaint it would be that in the humid climate, at least our room had a faint mildewy smell at times. But everything was clean and beautiful and the staff is friendly, unobtrusive and work very hard to care for you. We've already booked to return!

Vacation of a lifetime!
Where to begin? Just returned from a 7 night stay at Las Palapas. We had a total of 4 families (20 people - including 12 kids- ages 8-16). Each family had their own living space, bathroom and outdoor area. Perfect accommodations for each family - especially a large group of people. Honestly, hard to chose what my favorite part of the vacation was. Between the AMAZING food Nydia and the others prepared, the delicious cocktails, kids boogie boarding on the waves at the beach, playing in the pool, taking a short walk into the town of Chacala, fishing everyday, it is very hard to chose. Every small detail has been thought of and the staff working at Las Palapas is so friendly and accommodating. This vacation will be impossible to top...it was perfect from start to finish. Thank you to Bert for opening up your beautiful home and letting us create such fun memories with our families!

A perfect vacation
My husband and I were guests of a dear friend who rented this property three years ago to cerebrate her birthday with friends and family in style. We told some friends about the property when we returned, and 14 of us just got back (February 2018) from a special fun and relaxing week. The group ranged in age from 56 to 73, from those who were non-stop active (collectively, we took advantage of just about everything including hiring musicians to serenade us on Valentine's Day, the lap pool, kayaking, sailing, whale watching boat rides, a dozen massages, golf, a "market day" outing, fierce late night board games and lots and lots of chips and guacamole) to those who mostly chilled out on the chaises, from "eat everything in sight" to food "snobs", from (almost) non-drinkers to "what time is happy hour?", from high end globe trotters to those who prefer local encounters, BUT everyone loved the week and wants to go return at some point. You really cannot do better. There is nothing negative to say about the whole experience but the best parts are: the beach/view , the staff (really lovely and, tellingly, mostly the same folks who where there three years ago), and property's highly functional layout, welcoming comfort and unpretentious feel despite the decadence of the experience away from it all. Fabulous Family Fun
Wonderful location, great food and service, super beach, pool, sand volleyball court, and close by tennis courts. Perfect for our 3 children, their spouses, and 6 grandchildren. Paul also helped getting some local musicians for us one night, and 5 folks had massages from a local woman. We would do this again in a heartbeat if we could get all of our families together at the same time.
