Loved everything about this property

Another up-beat Mexican resort trying to cater to everyone. Staff here is excellent as it is in most places in Cozumel. The ownership is central to one family, which makes a difference in their job satisfaction. I think others had mentioned maybe making the Explorean an adults-only resort. I would agree Fiesta Americana would be the great place for kids.

The grounds of the property were great, there were always people out and about cleaning, trimming, etc. We lost our spot in line for a ride to our room due to the concierge working to sell us a premium resort membership and we were not offered our spot back. We ended up walking to the room, which was fine, the resort is not that big. The room was quite outdated, not that nice. The ceiling fan was quite dirty, windows and mirrors were deteriorating, too. It also smelled a bit mildewy. Food was not good, the buffet food was a little icky, it never was the proper temp. The dining options listed were not open while I was there, so that was a bummer. No explanation as to why, when we asked staff they didn't seem too apologetic. The reservation/made to order food was also pre-made so none of the food ended up being that good. There were band aids in the pool and ice cream all over the place due to the snack bar and the kids being all over the pool area. Resort credits are a joke and didn't use any of them. I checked out 2 days early and feel that I had food poisoning and when I asked upon checkout for someone to speak to I was told that I had to chat with Expedia. Chatted with Expedia and that was also not helpful. The entire experience was very unpleasant. Liked the beach and diving company nearby was ok.
