                      Pocket Guide: Brighton Brighton Hotels

East Sussex is home to some of the most enchanting holiday destinations in the United Kingdom. With its cosmopolitan feel, rich history and lively cultural scene, Brighton tops the list of attractive holiday spots in the county. From summer sailing to evening theatre, there's no shortage of good times to be had in this Bohemian coastal city. The town's also peppered with exquisite hotels and B&Bs to suit every budget.

                      A Vibrant and Welcoming City

The locals may not like it, but Brighton's nickname of 'London by the sea' is an accurate one! From the city's month-long fringe festival to the famous gay pride weekend in the summer, there's always something happening in Brighton. What sets the seaside town apart from the capital is its open arms. The city is a famously inclusive space, which contributes massively to its cultural and artistic buzz.

                      An Artistic and Cultural Centre

Brighton's a creative city, and it always has been. From the absurd pavilion, built for the eccentric Prince Regent in the early 19th Century, to the plethora of artists' studios and galleries that punctuate the bohemian Lanes, it's city that's proud of its 'alternative' credentials.

                      The Historic Seafront

When the sun came out in the 19th Century, the crowds of Victorian England flocked to the beach at Brighton, and things are no different today. In addition to the traditional pier, the seafront now boasts some new iconic landmarks, including the Brighton Wheel and the i360 - a futuristic viewing pod that harnesses renewable energies. As you'd expect, there are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop along the promenade.

                      Hotels in Brighton

Brighton is packed with great hotels. The friendly Kemp Town district is known for the best bed and breakfasts, while the seafront promises some of the grandest hotels in East Sussex. There are also some excellent and affordable hostels, ideal for backpackers.

For something opulent and historic, try The Grand, on King's Road. Alternatively, myhotel offers a more modern choice right in the heart of the cultural quarter, across the road from the Dome. If the weather's not right for jumping into the sea, the Hilton Metropole and Queens Hotel both offer indoor pools.
