The Grand Brighton

10/10 Excellent

"Had an amazing experience, what a marvellous place to stay , fantastic views, central location, all top class, great stay x"

The Charm Brighton Boutique Hotel and Spa

8/10 Good

"Family basement room was huge and perfect for our needs. Room very clean generally though did notice a stain on the carpet (looked like makeup) but very minor. Teas and biscuits all good. Coffee machine didn’t work but we didn’t ask staff for help as we had to leave very early- check in staff seemed friendly so am sure they would have sorted. We didn’t use other facilities but overall would definitely recommend. Great location and very comfortable and reasonable price"

Hotel du Vin Brighton

10/10 Excellent

"No lift! The hotel listing does say that all upper floors are only accessible by stairs (it's a listed building and they aren't able to install a lift) but if you miss that information, it can be a bit of a shock if you are less able-bodied. Our room was on the third floor and quite a trek with a baby each time we came and went. However... the staff were more than willing (in fact, they insisted) to help with our small amount of luggage and show us to our room. They also said that anything we needed, we could call down to reception for and they would bring up - they clearly enjoy getting their steps in. Our room itself was large which was perfect due to needing cot space for our baby (which they also provided without issue). The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was definitely high quality. The room thermostat worked well but the bathroom was very hot. There may well have been a means to turn the radiator off but we weren't going to mess about with it. Huge roll-top bath and great shower but take care with the slippery metal tray / base. There was a non-slip stick-on bath mat which helped. Beautiful downstairs communal area / bar and a really great location for access to The Lanes, the seafront, pier etc. Our room was nice and quiet but I did hear other guests commenting that their rooms were quite noisy so depending where your room is will have an effect on this. Nice hotel, but it's honestly the staff who make it great!"

Harbour Hotel Brighton

8/10 Good

"The sea view was absolutely lovely, the bed was comfortable and the hotel itself has some really nice features. However, there are areas of the hotel that are looking quite tired and in need of some attention. Our room, for example, had a large section of plaster missing from the wall above the window. When you’re paying good money for a hotel stay, you expect the room to be maintained to a decent standard, and this really let it down. I also think the spa charges need to be made much clearer. From my messages with the hotel, it sounded as though the £40 charge was per stay, but it is actually charged per day. This meant an additional £40 on top of the room rate for just a one-night stay. I think it would be much fairer and clearer to either include spa access in the room rate or offer a one-off charge per night, rather than charging guests daily. As it stands, it feels a little misleading and leaves you feeling as though you’re not getting good value for money. I’ve visited the spa before and do think it’s nice, but even that feels like it’s missing something and could benefit from a bit of investment. Overall, while there were some lovely aspects to our stay, I didn’t feel that I got value for money. The hotel has potential, but it needs some updating, maintenance and attention to detail to justify the prices being charged. It’s a shame, as with a little more care and investment it could be a much better experience.."
